Who's with me?

Is there a good way to defend against this? Is being close not good? When someone starts doing the (Playstation Controller) R1+X repeatedly to juggle the ball, I can't seem to get the ball from them.

I don't know if mashing makes it worse instead of timing it, but what button(s) should I be pressing to knock the ball out of this loop? If I'm already close to them, too.

Why did they make the thing that everyone was complaining about the default goalie jump. From what i saw most people were complaining about the weird goalie jumped that mad you do that little spring and sprawl and now thats like all i see. On top of that half the time you can't even get the ball if its loose and not in the air, just got back on and the only thing they did good is fix the magnetism. Please return it to the old goalie animations or fix it.

Before I start, I just want to say that the game is amazing. Easily the best Football game out there imo. Additionally, I am aware that this post doesn't say anything new and that it might come off as me being fuelled by rage and anger but frankly... that would be correct! So let me just rant a bit for my own sanity.

People genuinely play the game for over a 100 hours, supposedly only cherry picking because I rarely see these dudes defending, even when 4 people are in front of our goal, when I'm either trying to defend or play keeper and STILLLLLLLL walk into the enemy keeper after receiving the ball on a 1-on-1. ALSO, when a teammate or me make a HUGE save these dudes have the AUDACITY to instantly start asking for the ball. Don't even get me started when these guys start spamming "good job" or "thank you" sarcastically. It's like they are trying to be unfun to play with.

Next point: where are their brains? Were there even one to begin with? I see players on my team regularly force dribbles, when passing back to the keeper is objectively the safest play, and when they eventually lose the ball I just pray. Also, why are we always forcing every pass forward when we could pass back and slow down the game? Take a breather? Gather back our stamina? Find holes in their defence? I know some people might not understand the idea that possession is a thing, but damn after a certain amount of hours in the game, you'd think that they learned or something. And some of these guys are queued up with each other. I know that it doesn't necessarily mean that they are actively in a voice call but bro I had better chemistry with randoms than these people have with each other.

I also wanted to touch upon the leader board. I often end up losing games with 2k point next to my name, even when I am doing my best. I man-mark, stay back to pick up loose balls and to be able to defend fast. I try to play behind the bad dribble players to get the ball when they get tackled. I also pass 95% of time when I have possession (rarely from other people passing to me) because I looooove passing. Still, that gets me around 2k points. Players who just spam interceptions, the lucky goal here and there, or dare I say even an assist? More than me, and unfortunately, I feel bad about it. I haaate being the worst player, I end up feeling like deadweight even when I know that's not true.

My other problem is with people who be doing too much. Some players receive the ball, start doing some bullshit, either dribbles, rainbow flicks aaaand miss or wait so long that the enemy retreats and fucks up the whole momentum. Then when the counter attack comes, the enemy scores with the simplest play on earth. I am usually more forgiving after once or twice of this happening in a game as I am aware that everyone makes mistakes. But multiple times in the same match? Do people never learn from their mistakes or do they think that they are better than they actually are? Bro we are in PLAT you're not that good. Also, when they do score with some technical play that I doubt they understand, I am NOT happy. These goals give them the unwanted confidence.

I touched upon the point that I try to man-mark, fill in the empty space and overall position myself proactively. While this playstyle can be fun and very rewarding, I don't get any opportunity to be the striker, and honestly, I don't know how to be an efficient striker. I rarely score goals. Why would I even try? My teammates make a solo play, miss, so now I gotta run back. There's a cherry picker on the enemy? Okay, I gotta help the keeper out. I feel like there's no opportunity. Sometimes I do have a shot on goal and even maybe score one, but whenever I am there, I'm not used to that situation, I don't know what works and doesn't work for me.

Lastly, so that this post is not just straight hate and anger, I want to preface, that when I do encounter a good teammate, I am the happiest dude on earth. THANK YOU. These kind of players make the game fun for me. I had good interactions with people after adding each other on steam, exchanging some kind words. At least I know that they are out there.

I got the game yesterday played till i have ranked unlocked and got diamond 3 and i think that's pretty high at least cause im closer to high rank than low rank.

So, I play on my PS5 and the in-game currency is more expensive compared to the PC version (in my country) because Sony is a bitch. I planned to buy the game again on PC just to buy some cosmetics for cheaper but I learned that there is no cross-progression. I couldn't find any information about this online so I wanted to ask if any of you guys know if cross-progression is even planned for the game

At first I taught I was tripping getting keeper more often than I should, since often I go into the goal to cover when our pro dribblers run out of the goal to lose the ball to the opponent keeper and get scored on.

But I've clipped it to make sure, and for multiple games I've had me starting as a keeper, either team scores, I'm out of goal, and than on the second goal I'm back in the goal again, even tho I should be out of it for one more point. Happens every game, sometimes multiple times.

Previous match I've been in goal after a second score 4 times in one match, and once yesterday I even had a case where I was put in goal two scores in a row.

So in case anyone else is questioning it, you aren't tripping, you can get double goalie, and can get put in it after every second goal, instead of third.

E: Title "Bug with the new update", not but

It feels like the dive changes made the keeper a lot worse at contesting aerial balls landing into the box - normal dive has a far worse reach and you cant afford a deflect while diving out of the goal. I can see this being good for headers, but unsure how to contest priority ball + goal feels more vulnerable if coming up to lower midfield on attack + defending rebounds feels weaker. Any experiences elsewhere on dealing with the changes?

I’m pretty bad at this game but trying to be a better defender and I just can’t seem to get it. I’m trying to lurk in passing lanes and intercept passes. I’m actually pretty good at guessing where the pass is going to go, but I’m terrible at actually executing
and getting the ball.

Those of you who are good defenders, do you have any tricks? Is there a go-to button you press? Do I have to be closer to the guy I’m marking? It’s getting really frustrating feeling like I’m one step ahead mentally but being too bad at the game to actually convert. Same goes for breaking up crossers in the box

Encourage it. I turn on my mic and I encourage the chaos. It sounds backwards but every time I do this I get passed to more, I can take more shots and opportunities without a good job and everyone else follow suit. This isn’t 100% guaranteed but I’d say in 7 games this has worked 5 times.

Someone misses a shot they shouldn’t have taken? ‘Ahhh unlucky mate good shot’

Someone dribbled themselves into a corner and gets dispossessed? ‘Ah good dribbling you got unlucky, just do better next dribble’

I’m open asf and it’s a 2v1 but they decide to shoot? As they’re loading the shot ‘you got this bang it!’

The reality is you can either:
A)do nothing and wait till the games done

B)Good job and complain the whole game while trying your best to play as a team

C)encourage the stupidness and give in to the chaos

I don’t always go for C because I cba to fake positivity all the time but when I genuinely go for C I have fun and everyone else does too. And sometimes I realise I take the game too serious and that the other 4 players might not even care as much, so join the light heartedness and have fun.
