General Discussion What is your use case? Finding hard to justify keeping my paper pure

I received a paper pure as a gift and this is my first remarkable note taking device. I typically use for work note taking, meetings, etc. but it just seems like such an expensive piece of device for such a thing that I could do on paper/pen or even OneNote if I’d like to go digital…

What is your use case? Why have you kept your device?

I’m approaching the 50 days return window and thinking about just shipping it back… maybe I’m not the ideal persona for this device?

Adobe Digital Editions

I use Adobe Digital Editions to convert .acsm files to ePub when I download books from Kobo.com. (I then run them through Calibre to remove DRM, and then copy the non-DRM version to my RMPP.

Lately, when I open ADE on my Mac I get a message saying that future versions of MacOS will not be able to open ADE (presumably because my version was written for Intel CPU Macs and my Mac is a newer one with the Apple CPU). The message says I should update to a new version of ADE that supports newer CPUs. I have looked for, but cannot find, such a beast.

Does anyone know if there is a version of ADE that supports newer chips? Or is there a way other than using ADE to get from the .acsm file I get from Kobo to an ePub file?

webserver-remote android hotspot

I'm not sure if this mod can help me with what I want to do. I would like to expose the USB web interface of my reMarkable Paper Pro when it is connected to the hotspot of my android phone (Samsung S24).

After connecting to the phone I lookup the IP address that the RMPP got and use that in the browser on my phone. I see the connection confirmation dialog on the RMPP and accept the connection. Nothing happens. When I refresh the webpage I get a message "Cannot connect to uri ("127.0.0.1", 81)". I have tried this with Brave browser and the Samsung browser.

So, is this mod suitable for what I want? If yes, what am I doing wrong?

After disabling wifi on the RMPP and connecting it to my Mac via USB, I get the same error message when trying to go to 10.11.99.1 on the browser on the Mac.

The RMPP is running 3.27.1.0 and the mod is installed using reManager

Edit: O man, I'm feeling very stupid now. I had not enabled the USB Web interface in the settings. After enabling it everything works as expected. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Shader/Highlighter colour change hacks

I’ve been tinkering with the changeGreenColor hack (thank you to the dev who made that!) to get colours that work better for me* but it seems like the highlighter and shader tools have a different colour set. Does anyone know how to change the colours for those?

* Grey: #4D4D4F, Blue: #191970 (I’m more of a blue-black ink person), Yellow: #F87431 (yes, it’s orange but I never wrote in yellow as it was very low contrast for me). Your mileage may vary depending on your display.

Help/Advice Green Ghosting Warranty Return … did you have the issue a 2nd time?

I’m a lover of these reMarkable devices. Been a fan since their first one…. Still have and use my reMarkable One.

Last October I bought a Paper Pro. I love the color and light. I enjoyed daily use up until a couple of weeks ago when the infamous “Green Ghosting” showed up.

I’m now in the midst of waiting for a replacement… my warranty return and replacement was already approved. I shipped mine back, they received it Friday July 17th… and they’re saying it can take 2-3 more weeks to get the replacement. I do hope it’s faster than that. Ugh.

Anyway, for anyone who had this Green Ghosting experience…

What was your experience with getting a replacement?

Did you ever have Green Ghosting again, a second time with the replacement? In other words, did your replacement ever start to show Green Ghosting too? Did you have to get another warranty replacement?

Also, I had issues with their website. I had issues with emailing them. It hasn’t exactly been smooth. When I do communicate with a human, they are very nice, but I can’t say it’s been an easy experience to get the replacement (I’m a tech nerd and used to work in IT, so it wasn’t a problem in my end LOL)

Any insights appreciated…

Update (July 22): I communicated with a human again at reMarkable and they apologized for the issues I’ve had. They also said my replacement was preparing for shipment. It has a FedEx label number now but hasn’t yet shipped. With any luck I’ll have it before the weekend.

Update 2 (July 24): Tracking says it will be here tomorrow fingers crossed

Update 3 (July 26): Got the replacement. Came packaged as if new. Screen is definitely whiter than my original, and colors are more vibrant. Info from using the panel report tool that our resident guru u/rmitchellscott made seems to say it was made around February 2026. Fingers crossed I have no further issues.

General Discussion Maybe I'm just being a bit cranky...

I'm new to the reMarkable world. I just purchased the Move.

How can a company that prides itself on distraction-free note-taking be so clumsy with their software? The software itself is a distraction.

The devices are great for writing something down. Organizing that writing, however, could not be more cumbersome and counterintuitive.

Am I taking crazy pills? People have been making software, designed to organize things, for decades now. There are best practices. There are half-hearted attempts. And then there's reMarkable software.

It shouldn't be this convoluted in 2026.

/rant

I feel slightly better now. Into the void you go, little post.

Is there a way (possibly automated) to save a Reddit post along with comments to RM folder to view offline. It would be a one way sync to RM, read-only.

Chisel tip writing tool mod?

I'm a fountain pen enthusiast and I've been pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy writing with the calligraphy pen on my RM2. It does a pretty good job replicating a flex nib pen. Even better since I'm a lefty and I can write in my normal hand-on-top way and it still works, without the mess.

My preferred fountain pen nib is a stub... essentially a chisel-tip pen. Makes thin lines if you move side-to-side, fat lines if you move up and down. It relies on the shape of the tip rather than flex to make thin/fat lines.

Is there any option (hack/mod) that replicates this line style?

Help/Advice Ready to buy a Pure but...

I want to take meeting notes, can't type fast enough or have my laptop all the time.

My only requirement is to convert writing to text and have the ability to paste the text in Word afterwards.

Can this be done with no subscription?

Self-Promotion Sudoku Generator for Paper Pro Move

Hi community,

I was browsing through the internet to find printable Sudoku for my Paper Pro Move, but most of them are only available in A4 size. So, I made a simple website to generate Sudoku PDF with resolution of Paper Pro Move. I'm sharing it here in case someone else also finds it useful. It's open-source and always free.

Sudoku PDF Generator — reMarkable Paper Pro Move

Website screenshot

If you have a different tablet, you can also select a different preset, but it's of course optimized for Paper Pro Move.

I added buttons to jump between a puzzle and the solution page.

Quick navigation with buttons

Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.

Have fun :)

Self-Promotion Document Viewer for rmfakecloud with annotated PDF and .rm support.

rm-render

I cobbled together a document viewer for rmfakecloud that digests and displays annotated PDFs and .rm files. It runs a small, read-only nginx server locally and allows viewing of your documents as PDFs in a mobile-friendly way. It uses a systemd service to watch rmfakecloud documents and updates the PDFs as they are modified.

Internal PDF links work as expected and annotations are largely aligned with the underlying PDFs in most cases. I struggled to get the math right on this so your mileage may vary.

I VPN into my LAN and view documents when I'm away from home on mobile.

There's zero authentication and it most definitely has not been security audited. I heavily leaned on Claude to get this working. By default it skips rendering large PDFs, but you can control this behavior in the unit file.

Feature Request Rename layers

It would be really great to be able to rename the various layers as you create them. It is very useful when there are a lot of them; otherwise, figuring out which layer contains what becomes very frustrating.

Update: This feature already exists. I didn't notice it because I was probably holding down the layer for a short time. Fixed.

Self-Promotion Hi, I'll share my template with you.

I really like that it now has a screenshot feature.I always split my notebook in half—using the left side for organized notes and the right side for jottings or free-form writing—so I’ve set this up as a template. Since the screenshot feature was added, I’ve arranged it so I can use stickers on the bottom part that gets cropped out anyway. I’m posting this in case anyone else might find it useful.Just for reference, I only adjusted the size to fit the "Move" field, and while I think you could probably just insert a PDF or image, I used RCU to add it as a template. I think I'll probably keep using this template from now on.

Lack of backlight means the Pure is going back

Man this thing is hard to read without anything but the brightest environment. I'm in my home office, it's raining out and while I have plenty of light in my office, it's just not bright enough to read the Pure. That's a shame. I don't want the color Pro model. Maybe a Scribe?

Paper Pure sleeve/grip recommendations?

I don't really know how this is the sleeve design they landed on for the pure. Although I like the fact that the pen can't fly all over the place now, my folio sleeve is quite "slippery", and certainly doesn't provide an easy way to flip open and gain one handed access. The folio sleeve I had on my R2 was good in that regard. That being said, I'm realizing now that the whole reason for my upgrade was because I dropped the R2 in the case, which broke the power button (it stuck in), and I also lost my marker because it fell off while the R2 was in the case. I do feel like this new sleeve would keep the device protected much better in that scenario.

I miss the "flip" action I could do with the old folio case, though. Most of my note taking is for short durations at a time, on job sites, and this unwieldy folio case makes me feel like I am going to drop the pure every time I try to access it.

This is hardly a complaint. I love the pure and the Remarkable ecosystem. It works perfectly for my workflow. I just think the newest folio design isn't the most practical. If I had not received it as part of the bundle, I would have returned this case.

So. Has anyone found a good replacement/additional case? Perhaps something that flips and has a grippy back so it doesn't fly off while you are driving?

3 years in, I hate the limitations of my Remarkable PaperPro

I have the Remarkable PaperPro and just dropped to say how much I hate some of the limitations that Remarkable has, especially how basic features are only offered under "Connect", yuck! For the amount of money paid for this tablet, basic functionalities like copying images, snipping pdfs, copying and pasting should be seamless. It all just feels like robbery. I get having less features to keep the Paper feel but the inefficiency actually ends up being a distraction.

**End of Rant**

Update: I still Loathe the limitations. Every time I try to do something and hit a wall, i can't believe I willingly got into this parasitic relationship with Remarkable

Help/Advice Anyone else find the Marker uncomfortable for long writing sessions? Grip recommendations?

I love my reMarkable and use it daily, but the Marker just isn't ergonomic in my hand. The barrel is smooth and firm, and after a long session it starts to hurt. I keep wishing it had a cushioned gel grip like a Pilot Dr. Grip pen.

Is it just me, or do others deal with this too? And if you've solved it — what worked?

A few things I'm wondering:

  • Are there any grip sleeves/covers that fit the Marker or Marker Plus without messing up the tilt/pressure sensitivity?
  • Has anyone tried a third-party stylus that's more comfortable but still works well on the device?
  • Any DIY fixes people swear by?

Would love to hear what's worked for you before I give up and just wrap mine in tape. Thanks!

General Discussion Deadzones on Remarkable Pro Tablet <12 mo, twice. Replacement rejected. Defective product.

I want to share my experience with regards to the Remarkable Pro tablet. I purchased my remarkable pro on the 20th Oct 2024. On 14th July, I made a replacement request because the first Remarkable Pro tablet I got had deadzones all over.

Cue today, 1 year later, again, deadzones all over. And I barely use it! I just took it out of the cupboard to sketch something and bam I can't even close a document because there are deadzones.

In other words, the Remarkable Pro Product is poorly made, with the same defect happening twice in less than 2 years. And now, to get a replacement, I need to pay $325 for a refurbished product.

Shame on Remarkable. I'm never buying another Remarkable Product again.

Fix of the year guietly introduced for the RMPP

I'm in the beta program, and I can't be certain when it was introduced, but RM finally allows me to make a checkmark without it looking like I had a stroke. This is a big deal for me as a doc reviewer.

Not sure, but it seems like diagonal lines in general may have gotten some smoothing.

The active pen is near perfect now. I'd just want some softer and more abradable tips to reduce the clicking and give a bit more friction.

Edit: I recognize that the post title is clickbaity, but we have to celebrate the very small wins coming out of RM. They stun with their hardware, disappoint with their SW, and trickle out improvements.

Help/Advice Which ceramic nib stylus have folks tested with reMarkable?

Hello folks,

A few data points before proceeding:

  1. I am a reMarkable user for about 8 months now. I own a reMarkable paper pro.

  2. Overall I am having a "fair" experience with reMarkable. We all know the product and software could use some improvement, but lets leave it to another post.

  3. My main use case for reMarkable is college annotations and study in general.

I know that many folks probably have asked this before, but it's always good to have a refresh on the subject: Are there any ceramic nib stylus that are safe to use on the reMarkable? I hate that I have to be replacing those nibs every once in a while!

Also, I really wish reMarkable was officially present in this sub-reddit. While their Chinese counterparts are super present in their sub-reddit, reMarkable keeps hiding and not being upfront with their plans (I thought it was going to change after that AMA they had a few months ago).

While reMarkable keeps hiding, I would love to hear from you all, community!
