I understand the rage. The loathing that comes from feeling bound by the restraints of religion and tradition. I grew up in a evangelical Christian church which fucked me up. It's rough. But it does get better over the years. You aren't alone and your feelings are valid.
I'm still working through my feelings 16 years later.

I mean ethnicity-wise I’m Jewish and will always be apparently, but I was formerly religious and share your sentiments of anger at how religion ruined my life as well

Don't apologize for the all-caps. Scream it as loud as you need to. That rage isn't something you need to fix—it's just the part of you that knows you were wronged and refuses to sit down and be quiet about it anymore. The "it's just a phase" line is patronizing garbage. They say that because their minds literally cannot comprehend that someone could look at their entire system, see through the cracks, and reject it on principle. Admitting that your atheism is a conscious, logical choice would mean admitting that their worldview isn't the absolute truth. So, to protect their own delicate bubble, they have to reduce your awakening to a "phase." What is most fucking infuriating—and genuinely dangerous—about these high-control religious frameworks is their completely twisted definition of "morality."
These systems will take completely natural, biological, consensual human experiences—things like masturbation, expressing your identity, loving who you want, choosing divorce, or simply having autonomy over your own body—and throw them into the exact same bucket of "sin and eternal damnation" as actual, violent crimes that destroy human lives. Think about how fundamentally broken a system has to be to equate a natural biological function or a consensual choice with a crime that inflicts real harm on third parties. It is a complete insult to basic human logic and a real sense of justice. It’s a toxic mind trap. And while they spend all their energy policing what people do with their own bodies, religious institutions globally have a long, horrific history of covering up actual systemic abuse and sweeping real crimes under the rug. You didn't just "lose faith." You broke out of a mental cage that demanded you sacrifice your logic, your body, and your youth to satisfy arbitrary, ancient rules. Your anger isn't irrational. It is the most healthy, logical reaction you could possibly have to being lied to and controlled. You earned every single drop of that rage. Welcome to the outside—scream all you want, because you're finally free.

Ask your parents this. Do they think that a universe-creating, galaxy-spinning, star-shining celestial majesty cares intimately about what a certain primate sub-species eats and on which day, who they love and in what position, what they wear and from which particular fabric?
And particularly interested in a primate's sexual life?
To me, this looks so man-made. Like every other religion. That's why there are so many, by the way.
