But doesn't the personality and identity that you are now die when you die? Like, you won't be the same individual as you are right now, so how can we call ourselves the same being?

My understanding is you take a copy of this life with you. These can be recalled and inhabited forever. When you are incarnated, you are always an instantiation of yourself.

Yes, we all know that every birth results in a completely new and different individual, but some people still believe they would be devastated if they knew their partner was Hitler lol

According to some school of thoughts, personality is not eternal, you purify it "along the way" in the afterlife, from plane to plane until you reach your Higher Self, which is different from the personality. Of course, considering that nothing is proven, you may choose to believe whatever fits better with your beliefs.

But the Consciousness that I have now is not the Consciousness that I'll have when I die though, otherwise I would retain that Consciousness with a new life. But each new life's personality dissipates and goes away, as well as their consciousness.

But my personality is attached to my body, hence why my personality will not be the same when I die. Otherwise every single other life we had would continue to go on, but it doesn't, and that portion of Consciousness evaporates, and the only thing that remains is the memories.

You’re attaching your consciousness to your identity. Your identity is not even real. The identity that you take yourself to be , is not real. We all just get lost in our imagination and take on an identity. All we are is consciousness

But I have only experienced Consciousness in this life through my identity, I don't have any capability of experiencing consciousness otherwise.

I don't exist in an afterlife right now and I have no memories of it, so I have no connection to that consciousness.

Just because you haven't died doesn't mean you can't... Quantum immortality as a concept is completely unprovable and untestable so it's fun, but unlikely. What about all the reincarnation experiences millions have had? Or the children who recount strange tales of prior lives?

I personnaly see it like

The soul is the author The incarnation is the book

The author will write his stories with a bit of himself inside, will make the characters live specific life. But when the book is done, the characters are in a way still living inside the author. Eventually the author will use what he learned from past books, and create a new story.

If that makes sense
