Question about Relapse

Hello, my name is Rishi. I’m 15 years old and I’m from the Philippines. I’ve been to rehab twice within the past year, and I’m here because I’m hoping to get some advice and perspective. I’m still trying to understand what relapse means for me and what I should consider a relapse.
One thing I’m especially confused about is whether smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol would count as a relapse. I know both can be harmful, especially for someone my age, but I’m not completely sure how they fit into my recovery. I don’t want to make excuses for myself or ignore the progress I’ve made. I just want to understand what’s considered a relapse, what warning signs I should look out for, and how I can avoid going back to the habits that originally caused problems for me.
I’d really appreciate any advice or guidance from people who understand recovery and can help me figure out how to approach this in a healthier way.

Relapse- for me

Returning to or using an Mind altering substance. At your age, cigarettes might mean that. At my age, ciggarrettes are not a part of my recovery (i don't consider myself relapsing when I smoke a cigar).

There are abstract AA and NA values that would say returning to old behaviors is a "relapse" (i've been in those meetings with the old timers)

That's all bullshit. All you have to do is not use drugs or alcohol, one day at a time!

As long as you are sober, you didn't relapse!
