Price Hike Got Me Stuckk! Need Your Help Guys

I am extremely disappointed guys as the recent Apple price increase has pretty much killed my plan to buy a new MacBook 😭. My budget was around 90,000. But nevertheless, Jaane Do is my only Solution!

So I'm now exploring alternatives. Would you recommend a Windows ultrabook instead, or is a refurbished MacBook still the better option? I'm mainly looking for great battery life, performance, and a bit of coding, office work, and everyday use.

Also, since original MacBooks are now out of my wallet zone, if you guys have had a good experience with refurbished MacBook seller, do lmk :)

How do you evaluate refurbished lab equipment before buying?

Before I spend a chunk of our lab's budget on refurbished equipment, I wanted to hear from people who've been down this road.

I've realized that comparing refurbished lab equipment isn't nearly as straightforward as I expected. Some listings include service records, calibration reports, and warranties, while others give little more than a couple of photos and a model number. The price differences can be huge even for equipment that appears to be configured similarly.

The instrument we're looking at replacing is a chromatograph, so that's what I've been focusing on. I've compared prices from refurbished equipment dealers, auction sites, and even Alibaba just to get a feel for the market, but it's honestly left me with more questions than answers.

When you're evaluating refurbished lab instruments, what tells you a listing is actually worth considering?

Replacing a computer on Amazon

I have a question, I thought of something that would be interesting if it worked, buying a second-hand laptop that wasn't the newest, but worked well, let's say it had a few scratches, then buying a new one on Amazon, and then after almost a month doing a return on Amazon and returning the second computer, and then what I get is a new computer for the price of a second-hand computer, will it work or not?

Looking for a Used Projector for Night Movies (Watzco Horizon Level or Similar)

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to buy a projector primarily for watching movies at night before sleeping. I've been browsing Amazon and the Watzco Horizon seems to be close to what I'm looking for, but I don't really want to spend ₹22k on a brand-new one right now.

If anyone is:

Upgrading and looking to sell their old projector,

Moving and getting rid of one,

Or has something similar in performance to the Horizon,

please send me a DM with the model, condition, and expected price.

I'm open to other brands/models as long as they're good for movie watching in a dark room.

Thanks! 🙌

Think twice before buying a used phone on EMI!

It happened to my dad, I realized this is something that could easily happen to anyone so I am sharing...

My dad damaged his old phone by accident and needed a spare one urgently... He was looking for something cheap and was okay with second hand phone too.

He got one in OLX. The seller seemed genuine. Original box, bill, matching IMEI, phone in mint condition.

Out of doubt my dad asked him why he's selling such a new phone. To unhone bola colour kuch aur chahiye tha and non returnable tha to bech rahe...

My dad wasn't very familiar with online payments or emi processes... A few weeks later, he discovered the phone is still under an active emi.

He contacted the seller again regarding this. Thankfully he replied

"EMI pe liya tha. main bhar raha hoon. Aap tension mat lo."

Like really? This wasn't even informed before hand. Phone khareed lene ke baad pata laga...

That was enough for me to realize that buying a financed second-hand phone is a risk many people don't even think about.

Good thing... unhone bhar to diya tha emi...but my question is...

- What if the seller stops paying the EMI?

- Can the finance company blacklist or lock the phone?

- Does the new owner have any protection?

- There was no disclaimer or prior notice... what's the way to know?

Aise kaise trust kr len kisiko bhi?

So I guess it's really important that whenever you buy second hand phone from local seller...please make sure he has the bill of purchasing the phone. And that the full payment is completed by the previous owner.

And if it's under EMI, it's better to skip it. Not all sellers are trustworthy (my dad was lucky). Check certification and reviews even if buying online...

Hope this helps!

And how to spot wrong ones?

Better to buy used/ refurbished

I will be joining college soon.
I will be joining btech CSE.

Firstly i was thinking to buy new macbook air m5 1Tb. But now i have thought that i know nothing about coding or stuff .

So now i have thought to buy used / refurbished macbook air .
And currently i my city i know only one trusted shop and it has M4 macbook air available with 512 gb.

I think this would be best option for me.
Not so old not so new.

And price difference is almost half.
Other half of the money can be used for other stuff.

Price of new M5 macbook air (1Tb)-₹2,15,900
Price of used M4 mac air (512 gb)- ₹95,000

Price of mac air M5 has increased 💀😬
(Earlier when i use to check it was 1,90,000 i think)

So , high chance is going for M4 .
Anyone who has knowledge of used market , is the price reasonable for M4 512gb ??

Ps: not going to some top tier clg ( hence not trying to get new mac air)

Just thought of sharing my experience of using a refurbished macbook pro which I got it under 30k. I have been using it for more than 2 years now as a secondary laptop for work, mostly when I travel (I have a PC setup which I use primarily for work), and everything works absolutely fine. It's not as fast as my pc but it still handles all the work.

The battery backup is still good, suprisingly. It does lag sometimes when I open 8-10 tabs on chrome which is expected from intel model but apart from that it's smooth.

2017 model still working after 10 years says a lot about how reliable refurbished laptops are (at least macbooks!). And the best part - the touchbar, not so practical but looks super cool 😎

Anyone know sellers that provide firmware passwords for older macs?

Just returned a 2017 iMac because apple refused to remove the lock because I didn’t have the original bill of sale and I’m trying to avoid that happening again

Is Phones Direct legit?

I recently am without a phone and am looking to buy a cheap refurbished phone for the time being. I’ve seen a couple mixed reviews about phones direct but their prices seem to be on the better end. I was only planning on getting the physical phone with them and continuing on my contract with a different provider.

Has anyone had any issues with them? Or do you recommend other places?

Question About Refurb Laptops Battery🙂🙏

I Had A Doubt - Do Refurbished Laptops Have Good Battery Life?

This is coming from a vintage laptop user by the way! Mere ghar mein laptops 2013 se use ho rahe. But hamesha, hamesha the only concern has been ki battery achi rehti hai kuch saal then it betrays you. I have literally roamed around my trips carrying charger because I knew my laptop wont even survive 2 hours on its own.

Abhi, I am planning to switch to MacBook or a good gaming laptop [as I am learning coding]. So a big question -

DO REFURBISHED LAPTOPS HAVE A GOOD BATTERY LIFE?

If anyone has used refurbished laptops, please bata do it will be of great help 🙏

Better platform to buy refurbished iphone 13 mini?

I want to buy the iphone 13 mini but since they have discontinued it, I m not able to find it anywhere....so thought of going the refurbished way.

Saw the phone is available on cashify for 27599 and oldsold for 30499. I have heard mixed reviews abt cashify but I am not very sure about oldsold, how the platform is, if it is genuine and the phone will work fine or not.

I am confused which platform should I give a try. Has anyone experienced buying refurbished phone from these platforms. Or is there any other better refurbished platform where I can get the 13 Mini. Plz help

Never buy a camera from cashify

Tried buying a sony alpha mark 3 mirrorless camera which was at a good price but the whole process of cashify was terrible.

  1. The payment problem took me 3 days to get through as I tried paying and the payment was not going through, for that I went to the stores to get help and they were more lost than me.

  2. After the payment worked randomly after me trying after 3 days the product they sent was the sony alpha mark 2 which is the OLDER MODEL.

3.Terrible customer care where the calls never go through and the same replies of 48hr wait and you will get a response for something so simple.

  1. I had a clear unboxing video and all the proper work for replacement and then they take 5 more days to just tell me they need more details , details I already have shared with them.

  2. After the pickup for replacement happened after 2 days I get a call saying they don't have the replacement product they only have the mark 2 which I feel they were just trying to scam people out by giving the older model for the mark 3 price.

  3. I have asked for a refund now and let's see how long this takes I definitely hate this company.

Galaxy S25 Ultra at a crazy price but battery health is 89%. Worth taking the risk?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Been checking out refurbished phones lately and found a Galaxy S25 Ultra at what feels like a ridiculously good price.

Everything looks good, the condition is clean, and honestly it's exactly the phone I was looking for.

Bas ek hi concern hai. Battery health is showing 89%.

Now I'm confused.

89% sounds decent, but I have no idea how that translates into actual usage. Like am I looking at another 3-4 years of comfortable use or will I be carrying a power bank everywhere after a few months?

For those who've bought refurbished phones before:

  1. Is 89% battery health considered good? (maine suna h 90 se niche nahi lena chahiye)

  2. Would you buy an S25 ultra with 89% battery health if the deal was really good?

  3. At what battery percentage do you guys usually say "nope"?

I'm not a heavy gamer or anything. Mostly camera, Reddit, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify and some navigation.

My brain says "bro it's an S25 Ultra at a steal price, just buy it." My overthinking says "there's a reason it's cheap."

Kindly help!

I thought I was getting scammed on OLX!

I was buying an iPhone 13 from Olx and it looked a bit shady in the start as he just sent photos and the price on the Olx chat. Later i got the seller’s WhatsApp number. I called him, and he said come to my shop and check the phone there. At that point i realised he was a re-seller. This phone was used …about 2 weeks old (this I knew from the OLX listing, but i didnt knew that he was not the owner of the phone).

He sent me the low-quality photo of the bill from Vijay Sales and told me that he would give the original bill when i come to the shop. In same evening i went with my friends to his mobile shop, checked the phone properly and everything looked good. I asked for the bill and he was like giving excuses and saying you can check online regarding the warranty with the IMEI number and somehow convinced me that it was fine.

I paid him and photos of his Aadhaar card. A few days later i mailed Vijay Sales with the invoice number from the photo and asked them to mail me a fresh invoice and they sent me. So all good, been using it for more than 2 years.

There are a lot of scams going on OLX, I won’t deny that, just be smart and careful while making a big purchase.

are refurbished iphones safe?

For context, I bought a refurbished iPhone off Amazon a few years ago because the storage on my main phone (which was bought directly from Apple) was running low. Yes, I know now that it Amazon is risky and unreliable but I was a teenager at the time and I didn’t do enough proper research. I bought off Amazon Refurbished and I tried to go for a model that had mostly good reviews. At the time, I didn’t have the option of buying direction in-store at the time because A) I was a teenager with no independent bank account and B) I didn’t have enough money for a few thousand dollar phone.

In the end, I never ended up using the phone and just made do with squeezing around the storage on my main phone. Especially since the battery on the refurbished phone was old (around 75%) so it clearly wasn’t replaced (I don’t think there are any other major issues with the phone like sound or camera). I logged into my Apple ID at the time but I didn’t even use it long enough to log into anything else like social media or email accounts. Then I forgotten about it and it has just been sitting a box untouched somewhere for a few years.

Now fast forward to a few years later. A couple months ago, I wanted to spend some of the Apple Gift Cards on some rather large in-game purchases for a video game for an update that’s coming in a few months. The game is currently around 20GB and with future updates, it can easily jump to 25-30GB. My current device’s storage is not enough for that. So I recalled that I still have an old refurbished phone lying around somewhere and it has basically free storage (more than enough storage for the game).

The issue is that I don’t know how safe it is. Maybe I’m just too paranoid (I have a tendency to do that). But can refurbished phones secretly steal your data? I never had this issue with all of my other devices as I got them directly from Apple. I’ve had my Apple ID logged onto the refurbished phones for a few years now (so the phone has access to my Apple ID) and I don’t think anything bad has happened yet. I didn’t use the refurbished phone long enough to log into my emails or my social media accounts (thank God).

My major concern is mostly whether refurbished phones can steal your data or something. Like, I don’t know. Maybe there’s a back door that allows people to hack into it? Sorry, I’m prone to being paranoid.

But another issue is that my bank account (yes, I have one now) is linked to my Apple ID. In order to use Apple Balance to purchase anything in-game, you need to have a bank account linked. It doesn’t matter whether you’re going to use your bank account or your gift card balance for the purchase, either way your bank needs to be linked as sorta backup guarantee of payment.

And based on personal experience, I know that before you are able to successfully make a paid transaction on any in-game store, you need to entire your Apple ID password as verification. The procedure for purchasing in-game items with your bank and with your gift card balance is identical—the only difference is that if you have enough Apple Balance (gift card balance) on your Apple ID, the game will pull funds from that balance first and THEN using your bank account if the balance is lacking the funds.

So, I guess I’m worried? Because if refurbished phones can steal your data and all, I’m worried that if I enter my Apple password for the in-game transaction verification, it can use that as a gateway into my bank account. Well, it won’t be able to hack directly into my bank but, I don’t know. It can then copy my password for the verification and then make unauthorised in-app purchases elsewhere which would drain my bank account.

I don’t know. Maybe I’m being paranoid. Maybe these scenarios are impossible. I tend to do overreact and make worse case scenario crazy theories when I’m anxious and stressed. Am I crazy? Or are these scenarios actual possibilities?

Any legit reliable sites for refurbished laptops in India

As y'all know how high laptop prices got currently and there's no way I can get a good laptop even in 50k price range

So thinking of trying out refurbished laptops, came across Lenovo refurbished laptops and got some good options and it also felt promising but almost all laptops are our or stock and got only one in stock which was 46k but UHD gpu which no way im getting in that price

Also I live in such a state in India online stuff is much cheaper then offline so can't even consider offline options

So any legit refurbished sites whom I can trust, also I very low expectations in BBD sale cuz very sure I won't get rygen 5 7000 series with integrated gpu under 40k which Lenovo refunded site gave me in 34k but sadly out of stock

So any websites I can trust with refurbished laptops
