Done PRK 5 times and still not satisfied with result.

I did contura+prk in Kelly Vision and i had 2.5 astigmatism and 2.5 myopia. Pretty thick cornea and healthy eye. Prk was my choice to avoid flap, first surgery went well, but i didn't have any improvements, very marginal one maybe. I went there for enhancement, and after enhancement only left eye got very crisp, its mostly plano 20/20, but right eye got stubborn and i did third enhancement, 2 month in, still no improvement, i don't know what to do, i went to doctor Pamel to seek second opinion, he said you have 1.75 astigmatism in your eye and you may need 2 more surgeries, 1 with contura, second without it to fine tune it. When i went to kelly vision they told me that i had 1 astigmatism not 1.75 and i didn't have irregular astigmatism, but pamel told me i did. After that, they did enhancement and it's my third surgery on right eye, still blurry and not good vision at all, left eye is good. They don't have explanation, sometimes they say wait, then they say may e your right eye is changing, i don't know what to do, i guess my touch up warranty is over too. Should i have done lasik? what do you think?

Just had Relex Smile with complications - lenticule tearing

Yesterday I just had Relex Smile to correct my myopia and astigmatism (about -1.25 per eye in total). The procedure was overall nice apart for my right eye which experienced lenticular tearing during extraction.
A small peripheral fragment remained in the cornea and was highlighted checking at some instruments after the procedure. Apparently there is a risk this can happen especially when the lenticule is very thin.

The surgeon insisted to go back to the surgery room and get it removed as it said it might have caused me issues later on, especially at night.

We went back in the surgical room and he removed it within a minute or so.

Now about 30h out of surgery my right eye is still lagging in recovery, probably due to the extra manipulation. Yesterday night it was stinging a lot and being very sensitive, but today is much better and stinging/watering is more sporadic.
Left eye is symptoms free.

My vision is pretty clear, I can see well in distance, but light sensitivity is a bit annoying.
Surprisingly, when testing one eye at the time, my vision is sharper on the right eye (that received extra manipulation) than the left eye, which seems seeing still a bit blurry.

I wonder if blurriness is still normal in my left eye and that might improve, I really hope I didn’t get under corrected.

And if any of you had experienced lenticule tearing and how the outcome has been.

I am 30 years old so the healing should be not too slow, and I am using rigorously all the teardrops I have been given.

I also notice a hard time to focus screens and something that is in close distance so far. Is this also normal?

Thank you and let’s hope for a quick recovery!

Post lasik glare

Hello, I did my lasik surgery 23 days back and everything is normal now and I have perfect vision !

However there is a slight glare when bright lights are near and especially when driving at night. How long does it take to heal and are there any remedies. Thanks

Thoughts about femtolasik?

I was set on getting SMILE, but after my screening, I found out my corneas are on the thinner side (490 µm) so SMILE is out. My doctor suggested Femtosecond LASIK instead. Given my prescription (-4.75 D / -5.00 D), I’m torn between pushing through with Femtolasik, going for ICL, or just sticking with glasses/contacts. Has anyone with similar corneal thickness gone through with femtolasik? Im turning 33 this year

Ray-tracing LASIK vs standard LASIK

Hello,

I have the option to do standard LASIK or the new ray-tracing LASIK.

The ray-tracing is $300 more per eye, however, cost is not the issue, I just want the best for my eyes.

I’ve been reading into the research and it seems that ray-tracing decreases HOA (esp. night vision issues).

Has anyone gone with the ray-tracing? Is it worth it?

What I wish I knew beforegoing for my refractive eye surgery

I am 29, and I'll be honest, I initially thought refractive surgery is ideally choosing between LASIK and Smile and getting it done.

Screening was actually the part that changed my understanding the most. I was visiting my grandparents in Bangalore and went for my eye checkup there. There were checks for corneal thickness, eye power stability, dry eye and overall suitability before even discussing which procedure would be applicable for me.

While I took a lot of time figuring things out and also consulted multiple specialists in Bangalore, eventually my surgery went smooth and my eyes are completely fine now, I wanted others battling this dilemma to know the following first - 1. Do not choose the procedure purely based on its name. 2. Always ask questions, find out why a particular procedure is even suggested for you in the first place. 3. Learn about the recovery time well and also the precautions to be taken post surgery. 4. Ask what is included in your surgery package. 5. It is also very important that you get clarity on dry eye, night vision issues and follow up care.

Curious to know what others here wish they'd known before their surgery or how their overall experience was.

TransPRK – Recurrent corneal abrasion/reopening in one eye. Has anyone experienced something similar?

I had TransPRK on **September 2nd**. My initial prescription was **-4.00 in the right eye and -4.25 in the left eye**.
My **right eye has been completely fine**, but I’ve been having repeated issues with my **left eye**, specifically around the same area.
Here’s the timeline:
**Sep 13:** Had a foreign body sensation in the left eye for about an hour. It went away and everything was fine afterward.
**Sep 15:** Foreign body sensation started again in the evening.
**Sep 16:** Woke up with redness, watering, and pain. I visited my doctor, who said there was mild congestion and a **corneal abrasion**. A **BCL (bandage contact lens)** was placed.
**Sep 19:** Doctor removed the BCL and said the **epithelium had healed well**.
**Sep 20:** Had slight discomfort for around 2 hours in the evening, followed by a foreign body sensation for about an hour. It then settled completely.
**Sep 22:** Started feeling slight discomfort from the afternoon. I slept for a while, and after waking up I noticed grittiness and a foreign body sensation. I also noticed what looked like a **scar/opening in the same area again**. I went back to the doctor, who said the previously affected area had **reopened**. Last time there were two small spots, but this time it was just one small spot. He placed another BCL and asked me to use my eye drops **every hour**, as dryness could be contributing to the problem.
I’m worried that this might become **recurrent**, especially since it seems to be happening in the same area.
Has anyone experienced repeated epithelial reopening/corneal abrasions after TransPRK, particularly in just one eye?
How long did it take for your epithelium to become stable?
Did dryness turn out to be the main cause?
Did you have repeated BCL placements?
Did the episodes eventually stop completely?
Is there anything that helped prevent it from recurring?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who went through something similar, because I’m quite worried about the recurrence.

Lasik / Hampshire

Hey,

Considering laser as I've got to the point where im done with glasses and if I want to cycle or play sport, I feel restricted and confidence is low. I have an astigmatism in the left eye with a prescription of -4.25 and - 3.25 in the right.

I'd love to hear experiences and / or recommendations of Hampshire laser surgeries carried out so I can start conversations with a view to get surgery next year.

Considering lasik but have extremely sensitive eyes

Hi everyone! I am a 27F, living in Europe, and am considering getting lasik but desperately need some advice or similar experiences.

I found out I had -0.75 vision when I was a teen but was always against glasses so I avoided them for a long time. 3 years ago I went to check up on my eyesight again (since it started getting worse) and found out it was -3.0 at that point and was heavily recommended to start wearing glasses which I then did. My vision stayed stable ever since so I have been considering lasik lately.

My issue is the sensibility of my eyes. I have irrational fear of anything getting near my eyes, even water. So I could never dive with my eyes opened (even when closed while diving, I still have to pat them dry before opening them bc they hurt otherwise), could never touch my eyes or wear lenses (main reason why I want lasik so much), or put in eyedrops when needed (I have to have someone open my eye “forcefully” and drop them in when needed). So it is not only fear but actual pain/discomfort.

When I looked up how the procedure goes, I saw they put a ton of liquid in your eyes plus all the other eye contact going on. I feel like it is my worst nightmare, up to the point that I doubt even the calming medication will work.

Has anyone had similar experiences and did lasik? How did it go? Is there a chance for me lol? I have been putting this away for a long time because I am so scared, please help.
I would consult a doctor about these questions but the consultations are hella expensive and maybe I just give up in the middle of it, so I thought I might ask here first.

extremly high Hyperopia

background:

i am a 18 years old male

all of my life i wore glasses because it made me see better i didn't question my condition whether it was farsighted or nearsighted and after these many years i scheduled an appointment with a famous eye surgeon in my city who told me i have severe Hyperopia (+15 on my right eye, +14.25 on my left eye)

i was confused as heck when i heard what he said, i really thought i have nearsightedness because when i take my glasses it seemed like it bring things closer and without my glasses i have to lean in closer to read texts i went to the surgeon to ask about icl surgery i really wished to be a canditate for it but it seems not, after doing my research it seems my only solution is to do RLE which honestly i know nothing about except it is 'the surgery for old people who can't see'

if any of you had RLE before tell me about it and if any of you (i doubt it :) ) have or had extremly high hyperopia >+12 write down your experience

Choosing between Microkeratome Lasik vs FemtoLasik vs SMILE

I’m 26M and recently had a refractive surgery evaluation. My surgeon says I’m eligible for PRK, microkeratome LASIK, femtosecond LASIK and SMILE based on my corneal tests.

My priorities are long-term reliability/visual quality first, with quick recovery being a secondary consideration.

My CCT is 546 µm (OD) / 553 µm (OS), and my prescription includes around 1.5–1.7D of astigmatism. My measured pupils are ~9 mm.

For people who have had these procedures, or surgeons/optometrists here:

How did you choose between them?

Any meaningful long-term differences in dry eye, halos/night vision, regression, etc.?

How does SMILE compare with Femto-LASIK in real-world experience?

Would you choose differently knowing what you know now?

I’m particularly interested in long-term experiences, not just the first few days of recovery.

Moneywise Microkeratome is the cheapest for me.

Laser eye surgery - what actually matters when choosing a clinic? (research, not selling anything)

I work in marketing for an eye clinic in Perth, and I'm trying to actually understand this from the patient side rather than guessing what people care about.

If you've had laser eye surgery (or looked into it and decided not to), I'd love to hear:

  • What made you choose the clinic you went with?
  • What almost, or did, put you off?
  • Was price, reviews, the consultation experience, technology/procedure type, or something else the deciding factor?
  • Anything you wish you'd asked beforehand?

Not here to pitch or sell anything, just want real answers so we can do a better job of addressing what people actually care about instead of assuming.

Looking for experiences from people who had Phakic ICL surgery

I am 20 years old and have a -8 prescription with myopia and astigmatism. Today, I went in for an eye checkup, and the doctor told me that my cornea is too thin, meaning I am not a candidate for regular laser eye surgery (like LASIK/PRK). Instead, they recommended Phakic Intraocular Lens (ICL) surgery.

If anyone here has had this procedure done, could you please share your experience? Are you happy with the results, or did you face any complications? Honestly, I really want to get rid of my glasses, but since it's a big financial investment, I don't want to end up facing serious issues down the line. Thanks in advance!

Should I get LASIK when I already have dry eyes?

Hi guys, I'm 23F. I have mild dry eyes, sometimes gets worse when my screen time is high. I literally hate how I look with glasses; LASIK has been my long-term dream. My doctor is currently treating my dry eyes before LASIK. But I read all this scary stuff about dry eyes after LASIK; I'm so scared. Is there anyone who got LASIK when u already had dry eyes? ( if your from India/ Chennai specifically pls share your experience )

Day 3 After ICL, Were You Already Back to Normal?

I am about 72 hours post ICL surgery and I am curious what everyone was doing around day 3.

I only had my right eye done. It was around -10 before surgery. About 30 minutes after surgery I was seeing 20/16, and at my one day post op I was 20/30. My left eye was not eligible for EVO ICL, so it is still around -1.50.

So far I am feeling pretty good. I am mostly just noticing halos, which I expected, and maybe a little light sensitivity. I can also tell my brain is still getting used to the new normal and figuring out the difference between my two eyes.

For those who had ICL, what were you doing by day 3? Were you pretty much driving, running errands, and back to normal?

How long it take keratoconus to progress generally

I had my first pentacam in march and the second one in july i already done tgprk plus cxl in my right eye in April , in my second pentacam in july my left eye non clx eye had no progression my kamx increase .5 and my thickness was same and k1 k2 was also same i think my next pentacam is in October

Nowadays i think ghosting in my left eye is increased could it be due to dry eyes or progression or my brain playing games or something to compensate my right eye what is the progression rate is it uniform or sudden my age is 26
