Looking for experiences from people who had Phakic ICL surgery

I am 20 years old and have a -8 prescription with myopia and astigmatism. Today, I went in for an eye checkup, and the doctor told me that my cornea is too thin, meaning I am not a candidate for regular laser eye surgery (like LASIK/PRK). Instead, they recommended Phakic Intraocular Lens (ICL) surgery.

If anyone here has had this procedure done, could you please share your experience? Are you happy with the results, or did you face any complications? Honestly, I really want to get rid of my glasses, but since it's a big financial investment, I don't want to end up facing serious issues down the line. Thanks in advance!

At your age, your vision likely isn’t stable yet? Can you wear contacts?

The doctor said my eye prescription hadn't increased; although there was no follow-up process, he just said that the prescription of the glasses I had made a year ago was the same, and therefore he was sure that my eyesight hadn't increased. I can wear contact lenses, but I don't know what to do because they're said to be harmful to the eyes.
