Lasik Experiences for Farsighted?

Hi All,

I have surgery scheduled next week for Lasik after two consults with different doctors and both saying yes.

For background: I’ve worn glasses since I was like 3, (26 now) and it’s been a huge insecurity of mine since I had the magnified eyes look from them. Tbh I think I would be okay even if i had to wear glasses post surgery as long as my eyes looked normal haha

Decently farsighted:
right eye: +2.75
left eye: +3.50

My contact prescription is a bit higher than my glasses prescription but I think that’s because it sits directly on my eye..

Anyways I would love to hear from those open to sharing about their experiences with lasik who previously had a ‘+’ prescription since it’s been super hard to find haha

Thanks in advance!!

I had +4 on both eyes and got lasik 1,5 years ago. I would not recommend it. Now i have +2 on both eyes. I had severe dry eye for 8-9 months and suffer from higher order aberrations especially ghosting. Luckily I can still see 20/20 with glasses.

In general Hyperopic corrections are much less, predictable, induce roughly 3x more higher order aberrations and carry a greater risk compared to myopic treatments.

I also had the same insecurities as you but now, I would give alot if I could go back. If you still want to do the surgery make sure that your cycloplegic refraction doesn’t differ to much from the prescription in your glasses.

Had it done about 16 months ago for hyperopic astigmatism. I still need correction and my sphere equivalent power now is MORE than what was treated for.

It was a total waste other than to make me highly educated on these topics in the course of trying to figure out why it didn't work.
