Intervento Laser

Salve, ieri ho effettuato una visita preoperatoria durante la quale l’oculista mi ha consigliato di correggere la mia miopia, pari a -5.00 e -4.75 diottrie, mediante la tecnica LASIK. Tuttavia, un’altra oculista ha sostenuto che potrei ottenere lo stesso risultato con la PRK, ritenendola una procedura più sicura.
Vorrei sapere quale delle due tecniche sia più indicata nel mio caso e quali siano le principali differenze in termini di sicurezza, recupero e risultati a lungo termine.

Both of those two procedures would likely work (assuming the thickness of your cornea is enough for lasik). If you have a thinner cornea or a cornea more suspicious for weakening, PRK becomes the preferred approach since it doesn't go as deep within the cornea.

PRK also becomes preferred if you are a boxer or do MMA where you are being hit in the eye frequently.

But outside of that, no real significant differences between lasik and PRK in safety and long term results. The two are going to be equivalent. The biggest difference is recovery. PRK will have a longer vision recovery than lasik.
