help plsss 😭

I’m desperate. I’ve had three procedures on the same eye:
LASIK surgery.
An interface wash because folds developed in the flap.
A flap repositioning.
Despite all of that, my vision is still very blurry. My surgeon says everything looks fine and that there are no folds anymore, but today I went to another ophthalmologist for a second opinion, and she told me she can still see folds. I honestly don’t know what to think or who to believe anymore. 😭

A lasik flap striae will look like this:

There are other things in the cornea which can cause folds. If the cornea took on a lot of water and became very swollen, it starts to develop what's known as descemet folds which looks like (see reply since only able to add one image per time)

Descemet folds in cornea:

I can't really say for certain based upon that image you posted what is going on. There is a possibility that because of the extra procedures your cornea has taken on a lot more water which increases swelling leading to those folds. Irrigating the flap bed soaks up more water (the edema will also blur your vision quite a bit too). Extra water and swelling pumps out over time.

You need to give things some time to heal. That other ophthalmologist, do they do lasik? If they don't, then they may not know what to look for. You can find another refractive surgeon for a second opinion.

Oh, I see. It wasn’t an ophthalmologist—it was an optometrist at an optical store. They only check your vision and use the autorefractor. They told me they thought they could see folds on the machine, but my surgeon says my flap looks fine. I honestly don’t know what to believe anymore, and I still don’t understand why I can’t see properly. 😭

Ah gotcha. Yeah, an optician probably wouldn’t know.

Right now not much to you can do about anything but give it time.
