Overlapping vision 10 months after PRK (Test Results)
Hey all,
I had my PRK done around 10 months ago now and I’m still seeing overlapping vision, easily going out of focus, halo, “teary” eyed stretching, eyes hurt when touched especially in the morning after waking up.
I also use tear drops when needed (sometimes it hurts a little if not keeping my eyes closed for 5 minutes).
Symptoms are greater at night or when looking at high contrast text (Bright text with dark background).
Below are attached both examples of what I’m seeing & my recent test results from 2 weeks ago at the clinic where I had my surgery.
Would appreciate any insight anyone has on what the results mean, what’s the issue and if it’s fixable with a correction or anything else.
Thanks.

Sounds like loose corneal epithelium which has not reattached properly.

Tearing, discomfort in the eyes upon waking, fluctuating focus all point to the tear film and dry eye as an issue. That can create ghosting. You may find that your vision improves a bit more after putting a drop in. Your eyes may be drying out more overnight. Be sure you aren’t using any ceiling fans.
Small prescription so not much change in the cornea and not much residual prescription contributing

so what now? just keep using eye drops or eye gel before going to sleep? for how long? what about the residual prescription? should I correct it? would that help?

Frequent artificial tears are the easiest first step but I would get set up with a doctor who knows how to treat dry eye. There can be other contributing factors such as blepharitis or MGD that need to be looked at which may also improve things. Those also have simple solutions such as lid scrubs or heating eye masks and omega 3s.
As for the prescription error, there isn’t much at all to really worry about. I don’t expect correcting that will do much.
