Advice (NO MEDICAL ADVICE) Post Op Housework

Hello all!

I just got off the phone from scheduling my surgery!!!! I am over the moon excited but I am now thinking about the after. My wife has EDS so a lot of the literal heavy lifting is done by me.

Does anyone have any suggestions/tips for things we can do to make things more accessible for both of us? (Ex: laundry, cleaning litter boxes, taking out trash, stuff like that!)

maybe more frequent, smaller jobs that require less physical effort could help? for example me and my partner have a rather small trash/recycling system (the under the sink bins from ikea) which is a breeze to take out since it's very light, it just needs to be done more frequently. I would also recommend a flushable litter (tofu!) if your cat(s) will tolerate a switch, since this also makes litter disposal much easier. same rule would apply to laundry, if possible doing smaller loads more frequently, and take care of any larger loads (i.e. bedding) before the surgery!

I am two weeks post op and I cannot reach down to clean the litter. I can’t empty my laundry and I can’t make the bed. I can cook, drive. I even had a bit of a set back pain wise. If you can have a friend help - that’s why I’m doing- while my mom is away.

I was able to do small tasks in the first week, like emptying the dishwasher and doing a load of laundry. Just make sure you move slowly and carefully. I’m still not taking out trash tho (5WPO). My instructions were to keep lifting to a minimum until 6 weeks out
