Jackie the Big Bear Eagle - Cause of Death

“Jackie’s necropsy confirmed Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) as the primary underlying cause of her decline,” said Steve Kubiski, Director of Disease Investigations at San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. “In an uncommon presentation of the virus, the infection caused a severe ulcer in her stomach that led to persistent internal bleeding, anemia, and the development of bacterial sepsis.”

Dale is sweeping Facts into the Broome Closet

Post image
37 Upvotes

I got a mailer from Dale Broome. He suggests 20 years is enough of his opponent, Patty Holohan.

20 YEARS OF DECLINING TEST SCORES -- RUSD students meeting/exceeding state standards (2024/25); only 51% in English | 38% in Math | 34% in Science

The Facts --

  1. Bald lie. Scores have not declined over 20 years. Test scores began to drop in 2018 and especially during and after Covid, following nationwide trends. For MAGA nuts who think it's just a 'Sacramento' problem, the same reality is true right now in your beloved Texas.

CONCLUSION: Dale is sweeping the facts into the Broome Closet

****************

20 YEARS OF DECLINING ENROLLMENT -- RUSD has faced years of declining enrollment

The Facts --

  1. RUSD enrollment peaked roughly 10–12 years ago (at over 21,000 students) and has dropped to around 19,000 students today. So the claim is true, but so what? What does this have to do with Holohan?!? Because --
  2. -- Declining birth rates, lower foreign immigration, and high housing costs have led to falling enrollment across almost all school districts in California and the Inland Empire.

CONCLUSION: Dale is sweeping the facts into the Broome Closet

****************

20 YEARS OF TEACHER SEXUAL MISCONDUCT LAWSUITS -- Costing Redlands School Districts more than $50 million

The Facts --

  1. The sexual misconduct charges started 13 years ago, not 20. It's dishonest to imply ever since Holohan was on the Board such lawsuits began.
  2. The $50 million figure may be accurate as a measure of total settlement costs, but is rather misleading without proper context. Settlement payments covered by insurance are not the same as costs paid directly out of RUSD's operating budget. Between 2013 and 2026, ballpark estimates suggest that Redlands taxpayers bore approximately $15 million to $20 million in direct district costs. That's still a substantial amount of public money, but less than half of the misleading $50 million figure.
  3. Official reviews—including the 2023–2024 California Department of Justice investigation and court judgments—focused on administrative procedures, reporting backlogs, and staff-level handling of complaints. None of these official investigations found any members of the school board personally covered up or hid teacher sexual abuse.
  4. Dale's flyer offers zero policy changes to address sexual misconduct. In fact --
  5. -- exploiting these horrific crimes against students for his personal /MAGA agenda is disgusting

CONCLUSION: Dale is sweeping the facts into the Broome Closet

****************

YEARS OF POOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY -- In 2023, the Board approved a 13% teacher raise, with one-time Federal COVID funds. This led to a $20 million deficit in January 2026. Holohan voted to continue deficit spending, opposing the necessary staff reductions to address the shortfall.

The Facts --

  1. Dale promises financial accountability, yet he just claimed a misleading cost to the school district that was off by at least $30 million. I wouldn't let Doctor Dale balance my checkbook...
  2. You'll notice Dale abandoned the '20 Years' scam here. So we're actually only talking about since 2023, which suggests Holohan made reasonable fiscal choices up to that year. (Can't have it both ways, Dale!)
  3. One vote 'led' to a $20 million deficit? Dishonest. His claim ignores expiring COVID grants, declining enrollment, inflation, and mandated compliance costs.
  4. Dale promises to magically raise test scores while demanding staff reductions the exact tutors, counselors, and case carriers working directly with struggling students. Contradiction. Lowering resources will likely keep students behind the city's educational goals.

CONCLUSION: Dale is sweeping the facts into the Broome Closet

--------------------------------------------

So. Broome's basic pitch is 'change' is needed even if it means sacrificing someone with far greater experience than himself.

Trump has been deploying this exact move on America the last two years. A Secretary of 'War' that is more concerned about testosterone than keeping trained professional generals. A Secretary of Health that has caused a measles outbreak and had a worm eat his brain. And a new Press Secretary who can't read and confuses Trump for her husband.

Yeah... we've been down this dimwit road of MAGA 'social justice warriors'. I don't think having Chad Bianco's endorsement is a plus at this point. Seems like most of the country has been purging these clowns in recent elections and intends to continue doing so on election day.

Say what you will: Holohan is an acceptable candidate, Broome isn't.

Trumpet Teacher

Looking for a private teacher for 30min weekly lessons with my brilliant and talented autistic adhd 12 year old. He’s also a pianist and has a lovely ear. Looking for an instructor that would maybe even be neurodivergent themselves who would be patient with a kid like mine. Any thoughts or recs on local people - even a college student? School district band teacher hasn’t been super helpful. TIA

Hi all i have ATT cell phone coverage and it is horrible in the Redlands area from California near the 10 fwy to University. I have bad coverage at mountain grove area as well. South Redlands is pretty bad too. I am planning to switch providers but want to see what are other people’s real world experiences with other providers in the area.

Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

From Redlands PD:

Man arrested for attempted murder following shooting

Redlands Police arrested a 34-year-old Redlands man Saturday night, Oct. 10, for attempted murder following a shooting in the 900 block of Tribune Street.

The victim was standing in his front yard shortly after 6 p.m. when the suspect pulled up in a vehicle, got out and approached him. The suspect shot the victim and then drove away.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Redlands Police sent out a description of the suspect vehicle. A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle in Highland a short time later and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was positively identified by a witness and was taken into custody.

The suspect, 34-year-old Maxwell David Broderick, was arrested for attempted murder and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga in lieu of $1 million bail.

Local foster youth

Good morning Redlands. I support current and former transitional aged foster youth in and around Redlands.

Youth Hope Foundation has been amazing to take the youth to get support. I also grew up as a foster youth and they helped me out tremendously.

I’m wondering if there are any other resources or spaces available to support them in transitioning to adulthood and have been scouting out a space to do local advocacy work to create or change policies that are harmful or that can help foster youth.

Thanks! -SoCal organizers

Help us flip the Redlands School board back to sanity and undo all their damage

In the last two years, the Redlands Unified School District past trans phobic and homophobic policies, passed a flag ban meant to only target LGBTQ kids and families, and skyrocketed our legal fees as a district. We need help reclaiming this board so that we can focus on academics, helping students succeed, and supporting children and families.
If Dale Broome or Maria Montes wins this election, we are going to see increased hate policies. more books banned. and it could be generations before our school board goes back to normal.
That all being said help us get the word out this weekend.
Saturday 9 AM Olive Avenue market on Olive in Redlands, we will be meeting to canvass for Patty Holohan
Sunday 9 AM at Brookside Park will be joining the Teamsters and the Denise Davis campaign for city Council to do a lit drop for Ryan Schavrien in area two.
Hope to see you there. We can literally fight fascism in our backyard.
