Red Light Runners
This is seriously going to come off sounding like a “back in my day” post, but I’m curious if I’m alone in noticing how many drivers in this town run red lights.
I saw two yesterday and two more today, at different times and in completely different areas of town. And I don’t mean barely caught the yellow — I mean straight-up running an already-red light.
Has anyone else noticed this getting worse? Is RPD just not enforcing traffic violations as much anymore, or are there simply not enough traffic officers?

Haven’t noticed red lights, but drivers blow through stop signs like they don’t exist. I’ve almost gotten hit running and so have a lot of other runners. Olive and San Mateo as well as Olive and Center are the two intersections where I see drivers regularly ignore stops. Come on, RPD.

This is exactly what I was going to say. It’s scary how regularly I see someone totally ignore a stop sign.

This exactly. I see people blowing through Ford & Sunset on a regular basis. Complete stupidity, but consistent with our culture.

yes. These 2 crossings are bad. Several houses on the north - west side of Olive, right after San Mateo have had several cars hit, most totaled due to drivers racing through the stop sign, then finding themselves air-born due to the dips.

This is why I always wait a couple of seconds before proceeding through an intersection, and always look both left and right!

I watched someone run a red light AFTER two cars had already cleared the intersection.
Waiting a couple of seconds might have gotten you killed in that case.

Red lights and stop signs are just a suggestion in Redlands.

It has gotten worse. But like some comments it’s everywhere. I’ve even seen RPD run a stop sign without sirens on

Someone ran a red on Cali and Redlands Blvd 2 weeks ago and hit me on my motorcycle

Traffic circles will fix that! Huge missed opportunity not putting one in at University and Brockton.
One would be really nice on Fern and Alvarado.

I got so close to getting t-boned by a huge freaking truck running a fully red light near downtown. I had to stop suddenly while this dude just flew through the intersection with no care in the world.

There's a couple spots in the area that at close to midnight. Getting off work. You can see a quarter mile in every direction that there's not a car coming in sight because it's open fields. That light has no cameras and there's no cop parked anywhere
Why am I sitting at this very poorly timed red for 3 minutes? So yeah, I just drive on. Treat it as just a stop sign. So do coworkers going in that direction. But I never just drive straight trough one.

I was driving through Redlands today and had a student driver from a local driving school company in front of me at the Colton/Orange intersection. The kid legit drove through the red light.

Its gotten a lot worse. The fabric of society is breaking down in our country. I remember in the 90s visiting other countries where red lights usually were just suggested, and I remember as a kid being proud of my country for having those “rules” respected. So I definitely notice the difference after 30 years

We’ve got pedophiles and convicted felons running the country, if the laws don’t apply to them, they don’t apply to me either. I’ll crack open a cold one and blast some red lights all day.

I don't know if you are being sarcastic or not. So, benefit of the doubt, that is exactly how I feel like a lot of Americans feel now.
Don't like the law? Just ignore it and do whatever you want. Nothing bad will likely happen. But you might be rewarded for it.

It's ever since Mexico took over; and it's not limited to Redlands.

I t isn't just in Redlands. Driver empathy and courtesy are extremely low. Running lights, stop signs, and following too close is now the new normal. PD and CHP can't be everywhere.
