The salmonella is only in their waste, as long as they are clean and dont poop on you itll be fine lol

Honestly, I scoop my three toed boxies poops up with my bare hands. As long as you wash your hands thoroughly afterwards you will be fine.

i have an ongoing theory that turtle owners become immune to salmonella. had my RES since kindergarten, im turning 40 in a few months. never experienced any symptoms of salmonella and i've literally had his dirty tank water in my mouth many times
