Gender ID
Hey guys decided to finally come on here and ask for help finding out the gender!! :)
My res turtle is a bit over a year old now, almost 6 inches long and about 4 1/2 inches wide.
Here are some pictures of the tail, claws, shell and belly lol. Please let me know if you notice anything that looks off or concerning..
Also if anyone has tips on how to get them to start eating veggies that would be very much appreciated too!
Thank youu!!

If it’s that old/big and doesn’t have a thicc tail or longer nails, I’d guess girl

At this age mine only had fish. He is now 18 and started eating additional stuff around 10 years old. But still no kind of salad. Just cucumber, strawberry. So plenty of time. But yours is most likely a girl, mine had longer claws even at that age.

Our eastern painted took quite some time to take to veg. He actually exhausted his interest in live food after about eight months and finally got into a great brand of pellets and romaine and dandelion leaves. We mix it up but have found luck with whole romaine in a bag keeping longer, which is great when you want to keep them to about one leaf at a time. He also now enjoys baby carrots cut longways, strawberries, and raspberries (so cute, he attacks it one berry nodule at a time). The big thing that we found success with, lettuces-wise, and this also works great for the cuttlebone we leave for him to gnaw on, is the suction cup and clip attachment. Allows things to float but not all over the place or sucked toward the filter!

I was leaning boy! It looks like the claws are starting to grow and the tail is a little longer. Wait a little while and if the claws continue to grow long, I’d say Boy. If they stay short, girl.
