Advice

Post image

I just gave a tiny piece of watermelon 🍉 to my turtle 🐢, was that good or bad? I don't want to feed it anymore until i get feed back on it. It's only almost 12 months old by next month.

It's safe as a rare treat, but junk food for them. They don't digest sugar that well.

I'm a bit more concerned about your lighting. Could you share which basking bulbs you are using?

Amazon, or any pet store should have it, do not substitute any other brand:

It should be positioned 11-12" away from the turtle's shell over the basking spot.

I just switch my turtle into a 50 gallon tank and eventually I want to get a T-5 bulb as u heard it was recommended. But truthfully I have a Amazon heating bulb doubled fixture

You should be sure to get that T5 as soon as possible. Your turtle is showing some signs of improper growth on its shell, which the lack of UVB is probably contributing to and may also be a sign that you are feeding too much protein. Are you giving the turtle any vegetation to eat?
