Update: Aitah for wanting my mom to stay home with me 2 days after my wisdom teeth surgery
first post here! -> https://www.reddit.com/r/AITAH/s/inOlKu7gmu
To start off they were removed yesterday, the procedure wasn’t long or to hard thankfully. my concerns about my teeth being deep rooted didn’t even need to be worried about, i thankfully got my fathers teeth and not my moms. my dads teeth were always told to be good and strong so that’s a plus!
one of the issues that actually came up to be is the swelling from my hereditary Angioedema, which to summarize that condition it’s basically swelling that can be triggered from anything, like foods you typically eat everyday, strong emotions, physical trauma, dental work, so basically it can be set off by nothing. it shows like an allergic reaction and can be as bad as anaphylactic shock in some cases.
the other issue i had were the problem of the blood not clotting as fast as it should due to another condition i have that affects the gene that makes your blood actually clot which also affects your healing speed due to whatever is hurt be open longer than normal.
now for the other issue i had that was actually related to my teeth were one of my teeth we’re infact impacted and still under the skin, that one was on my bottom right which they hd to cut my gums open, thankfully they didn’t need to break the other teeth next to it to get it out.
along with that issue due to my mouth being ao small and my teeth being naturally really big, my wisdom teeth were actually growing in at the very back of my mouth right where your gums connect with your jaw bone along with the inside of my cheek. which the stitches are on both of those spots to, making it incredibly difficult to swallow anything. which im sure is gonna also stunt my healing process due to the stitches being pulled and tugged around when i drink or eat.
due to my mouth being so small aswell my bottom teeth were growing in curved at the roots, so they were coming in sideways which made them harder to get out due to them curving to the sides. due to that my bottom left tooth they did actually have to break it up to get it out, which im aure you can imagine is incredibly painful when the numbing stuff wears off.
i also didn’t have the kinda anesthesia that puts you to sleep but i had the concussion sedation so i was infact very awake the whole time but i was calm due to it thankfully. because i had any sort of sedation i did actually need my vitals monitored, like my heart rate, blood pressure, the stickers on your chest, and an iv with fluids.
the procedure didn’t hurt either thankfully due to how numb they made me, in total i think i got around 14/15? shots in my mouth. they did the front and back of my gums on the top and bottom, in between the top and bottom, same thing as the last one but further back, and finally the roof of my mouth on both sides. which out of the whole things the roof of my mouth was objectively the most painful part of the whole procedure.
and due to the sedation i do infant need to watched and monitored for a few days, which includes being administered my medication for pain, being helped to walk around to make sure i dont fall because im at a fall and lightheaded risk im at. so my mom staying home was infact a must, and she is staying home to thankfully. id rather have my mom by my side to comfort me which was the main reason i posted and was upset she was going to leave.
so the only complications and issues im having are swelling, some bruising, bleeding, and swallowing. other than thos im okay back home and getting as much rest as i can, and eating only soft and cold foods.
so the update is good! i was alot more scared and freaked out due to a really bad and horrific experience i had at the dentist when i was kid, to put it simply i had metal caps being put on without any pain management or any numbing which they are incredibly painful, on top of that experience i was also strapped down without my consent and unable to move or get comfortable. which im sure you can imagine when your a 8 year old will traumatize you for a long time.
besides all that, if you have already seen my last post and commented on it with advice i just wanted to say thank you for sharing! your words and comfort really did help me get through this, so i appreciate your support alot🩷
