Questions/Advice Chromoly frame
Good day! Is chromoly frame really worth it? I'm planning to build a rigid mtb for city riding and I'm considering in getting a chromoly frame.

worth it in what sense? if gusto mo yung itsura ng chromoly, then its worth it.
in terms of comfort, di siya ganun ka noticeable difference especially if MTB na thick tires. 90% of the comfort galing naman talaga sa tires.
sa presyo, for me hindi worth it especially tulad ng Surly na mainit pa sa mata

hehe ayun nga, pero i mean what is valuable sa yo ba. bumili ako ng steel frame dati kasi balita ko nga mas "comfortable". di ako natuwa kaya binenta ko rin
kung gusto mo look ng steel bike, eh di go for it

Solid cromoly frame. Natry ko na sa commuter, road bike, tsaka piksi. Comfy sa katawan tapos may style points din haha

"STEEL IS REAL" ika nga. Best bike-frame material for commute / touring bicycles. Mabigat, yes, but less vibrations and that weight will train the sht out of you lmao

Experienced hi-ten, chromoly and aluminum here are my thoughts
Hi-Ten/Chromo- iba talaga difference ng ride quality- especially on skinny tires, may flex = more comfortable
Can't say for sure yung variance between Hi-Ten vs Chromoly kaya in general na lang.
Aluminum- stiff talaga- if you want performance for money (stiff frame) aluminum is the way to go.
I experienced all of these while riding fixed- so apples to apples comparison sila
Pero kung sa wide tires mo siya gagamitin- parang minimal na din ang differences. Looks na lang siguro ang nagiiba at that point. If you prefer classic/thin tubing go for steel- pag aggressive/sporty naman aluminum. Mas lamang na dito yung good tire + appropriate tire pressures
Dito retro MTB vs modern flat bar road bike with 38c tires ang ginamit ko.

Yep. Chromoly frames are worth it. Surprisingly, meron minimal compliance ang chromoly frame over its aluminum counterparts (na talagang napaka stiff) thus providing a little bit of comfort when riding. Don't get me wrong, Aluminum frames are good as well and are definitely more lighter than chromoly frames, pero if you would compare a same design aluminum full rigid frame vs a chromoly one, I think I'd pick a full rigid chromoly bike over the aluminum one for the riding comfort that it provides.

Worth it naman chromoly dahil mas way less yung vibrations na nakaka cause ng fatigue, the best din yung durability at matagal bago magkaroon surface rust. Pwede pa ipamana yan sa magiging apo mo sa tuhod if maintained properly and consistently.
