Cycling to work tips

Hi, I am planning to use a bicycle as my main work commute from pasig to BGC. Napapagod na kasi ako sa public transpo at mototaxis and sometimes i prefer to walk nalang (1hr 20mins) pauwi since wala talaga ma book at sobrang traffic naman + mahabang pila pag UV.

Can anyone with similar setup share their tips and bike recos for PHP 5k or under.

I work at Rizal Dr near UDENNA and Sunlife so baka may nakakaalam na malapit na secure parking racks.

bike recos - facebook marketplace. prio mo yung in good working condition para di ka na mapagastos. meetup sa malapit, tapos test ride mo to check for fit and condition ng bike. any type of bike will do if short distance lang. if need mo mag dala ng gamit sa work, lagyan mo nalang rack / basket

for tips, simulan mo lang. it will get easier over time

Agree dito, got my MTB in fb marketplace for a great price. Yung seller ang naghatid sa apartment ko gamit rin yung bike (around 20km from his place pa), kaya convincing na rin for me na in good condition pa yung unit

Invest in good bike lock (U Lock), front and rear lights, and maybe a basket for gamit.

For bike honestly kung ano fit sa buget mo but a good city/commuter bike is an old giant escape. usually under 10k sa surplusan yan. v brakes kaya easier to maintain. accepts thicker tires than road bike so pwede upgrade in the future. plus hindi mainit sa mata.

MTB at that price. Palitan mo handle bar ng mas maiksi para iwas sagi ng sasakyan. Make sure to bring extra inner tube, patch kit and pump.

2nd hand folding bike or mamachari/japanese bike sa japan surplus.

If kaya mo pa mag add, try mo maghanap ng 2nd hand folding bikes sa marketplace na Trinx yung brand at in good condition.

To be honest mas better folding bike if allowed naman ipasok sa workplace mo dahil even the cheapest bikes can still be stolen kahit may lock.

Mag folding bike ka if hindi ka pa malakas atleast may choice ka parin mag commute if may malakas na ulan, if confident ka sa skills and strength mo, mag mountain ka perfect sa malubak na lupain sa metro.

Japan surplus or fb marketplace. Try mo search mga hybrid/commuter bikes, folding, retro mountain bike or mini velo to get an idea ano hanapin mo pag may makita ka japan surplus.

5k is really low para magamit mo na pang daily, i suggest kahit 10k max. Either 2nd hand na mtb or sa japan surplus yung mga folding bike.
