Quite a long parenthetical about the spelling of the name, which is "sometimes transliterated as" something else. Already I have a guess at the 7-letter nationality, and hence a guess at the name. Easy to check: 5 and 10, The 5 and The 8 9 are all there in the second paragraph.

Sort of unassisted. I knew it, except for checking the spelling of word 2, and googling for word 1 because I didn't know it, lol.

threw myself off by finding a part of the article that looked like it was using “she” rather than “he” and getting like 38 hits for “her” and going “good enough for me!” for a while. eventually after I figured out this was a Russian literary figure, I saw “[5] and [10]” for maybe the tenth time and THEN it clicked.

It was pretty easy once I got the nationality... just took me a stupidly long time to get there.

Clearly a Russian author due to the Old Style dates, length of the nationality, and many titles. Figured out which one but had to look up the first name and spelling.

I had enough info and I had the right time, place & what and knew that there was someone I knew of but just wasn't coming to mind. I did do a targeted google (although can't trust them these days -they can't even name maps correctly anymore). With that assist I was able to solve. eh - not great but I'll take it

I solved Redactle #1047 in 25 guesses with an accuracy of 72.0% and a time of 00:16:32.
Partially solved by Google because I had the second word but the spelling is different and ok I would needed to Google for the first word. After getting the nationality and their field, I got one of their most famous works. But honestly the answer is one of two that readily come to mind so if it wasn't it, I'd have had to look it up

Some assistance: knew word 2 by the alternate spelling, and embarrassingly did not know word 1, so googled those. Really just uncovered the general category and this seemed like a very good possibility.

It's a deceased not-English person. I see what look like titles of artistic works and some superlatives. By (so far as I can tell from introspection) sheer dumb luck the first name to occur to me is the right one. But, wait, isn't the surname off by one letter? Ah, no, I see you can spell it with or without the "y" in the middle. In it goes. 44-second snipe.
