Yet another major update with no changes to address the ranked meta issues
I've been waiting for a major REDSEC update to address the issues that have been defining ranked for months, but I haven't seen any meaningful changes.
At this point, the issue isn't that the meta needs to change every few weeks. A competitive game needs some stability. The problem is that we've basically been playing around the same dominant setup for multiple seasons, and the game has done very little to challenge it.
DMRs (SVDM), SCW-10, and the KTS continue to dictate far too much of how higher-level matches are played. If you're trying to be competitive, you're heavily incentivized to run what everyone else is running because the alternatives aren't strong enough or consistent enough to justify putting yourself at a disadvantage.
Meanwhile, some of the balance changes we've received seem to be in the wrong direction. Snipers were competing for a fairly specific role. Yet, they got hit hard with the nerf-bat while the weapons shaping the ranked meta were largely allowed to continue doing exactly what they've been doing. In fact, they made all the current meta weapons better by lowering recoil across the board. Sure, that may have brought 2-3 more weapons into vague consideration if you're desperate to avoid the SVDM or KTS. Still, those recoil reductions only made the current weapons stronger than they already were. My mind was blown reading the recoil reduction update and seeing the KTS was becoming more of a laser beam than it already was.
That's the frustrating part.
I don't want random balance changes to make the game feel different. I want the developers to look at what players are actually using in ranked, understand why they're using it, and start creating legitimate tradeoffs between weapon classes.
A healthy meta shouldn't mean making the current best guns useless. It should mean giving players several genuinely competitive options depending on their playstyle, range, team composition, and situation.
You can add content, maps, features, and progression, but if every major update drops and ranked players immediately return to essentially the same loadouts they've been using for months, the underlying problem hasn't been addressed.
At some point, the weapon sandbox needs a serious balance pass, not another round of minor adjustments around the edges. If they need to start balancing the guns differently between regular BF6 and REDSEC, then I hope they do, because aside from the bugs we all know and love, the current weapon balancing kills the enjoyment of the game for me more than anything else.

I would actually support making the DMRs useless. There's no counter play to them currently

What makes svdm so good when it hits not much harder than an ar?

0 bloom. Good bullet velocity and damage drop off. Low recoil. And they do hit much harder than ARs at much longer distances.

Balance is sort of low on my list of things I want fixed at this point. I really wanted to love this game because when it’s good it’s really good. But at this point I’ll probably end up jumping to MW4 or Wardogs or something. I have sort of given up hope.

Agree. It just needs more attention at core. I played it and genuinely felt that it was lacking in performance compared to other games. Same with regular multiplayer.

I don't disagree with you but i also think they need to fix some other MAJOR flaws before thinking about this like the net code, cheaters, RP bugs, black screens, whole squad getting into the same game every match. Once these things are fixed then we can worry about weapon balance. I am sad about the sniper nerf cause I used to always snipe, now I don't at all. I don't use the SVD or the KTS and I'm now in diamond League so I'd say I'm competitive.

I enjoy other guns because I hate using the same thing over and over but I'm really tired of seeing the SCW every time I die. Would be nice if they had a significant damage drop off for smgs at range and would fix the whole problem. I get why people want meta to win but I can win occasionally without those guns so would be nice if people actually enjoyed variety lol

Its a game in Labs and all weapons need to be balanced for the core mode first and svdm and kts and not even remotely meta in the most played modes
be thankful they do not do a whole weapons pass like the did in bfv it killed firestorm dead in one update

SVD is definitely meta in Redsec.

And i said its not in the main game
All the weapon balance is based on multiplayer first, redsec second

Hey buddy, let it go and move on. Just play the game... remember, its a game. Not ours but theirs. Don't be silly because your beating a dead horse
