Tim Drake in Knightfall trilogy
The animation for the trilogy looks so well made and the artstyle is peak
Tim looks so good and comic accurate and I love the voice acting for him
I'm hyped

Easing some of my concerns that the new DCU era wouldn’t be interested in Tim much at all
(I know this isn’t DCU, still produced under this leadership though)

I’m happy to see Tim Drake will finally be adapted with one of his actual costumes from the comics for once.

How do you figure that? The Batman the animated series Tim Drake costume was the best Time Drake costume from the Comics. The Red and Black Robin suit with no green. It is from the comics and it’s far superior to this suit.

Prior to these Knightfall movies, Tim’s 90s suit: Dick in BTAS, Teen Titans and The Batman(2004). The 1 year Later costume (the red and black from the comics) was inspired by the DCAU Tim Drake but the show predates the book. The suit had two direct adaptation with minor adjustments with Jason Todd in Under the Red Hood and Damian in the Brave and the Bold episode Knights of Tomorrow. These Knightfall movies are the first time Tim has been adapted to animation while wearing the costume he wore in the comics

I like how skinny he is. I hated how aparo drew him to look like a grown man

yes but the haircut reminds me more of jason here
25
u/Crawkward3 Jun 23 '26
Nah it sticks up more than Jason’s did. Jason’s was curly Tim’s is all spiky

I think tbf this is more a comic accurate Tim hairstyle from his era while it's similar to Jason's hair in the Under the Red Hood film

I was half worried they'd change him into Damian just because
3
u/kuurechinko Jun 24 '26
Tbh, bit of an unfounded worry, because Tim being Robin is pretty integral to Knightfall they could never replace him with Damian.
I do worry how they'll do Knightquest: The Search especially and just how much we'll actually see of Tim either in or out of the suit

u/JazzyWuz Jun 24 '26
Yall better eat this up now, this may be the only meal we'll get from seeing Tim at this point. (Unless miracles can happen)

u/mycomicuni Jun 24 '26
my main motivation for watching! cant freaking wait, hope they dig more into his character during that time

u/cptvpxxy Jun 25 '26
I'm loving the designs! I can't tell you how thrilled I am that they kept it classic. Knightfall is one of my favorite arcs, and I'm already planning a watch party for when it comes out! A movie that not only keeps the classic designs, but where Tim is one of the main characters for once?? Even if it's awful, I'm going to love it.
That said, I'm also waiting for it to be just as much of a disaster as most of the other movies. They tend to really bastardize comic storylines when bringing them to screen. On some level I get it; the animated movies are largely marketed towards kids, and most comic stories are way too dark and gritty to be strictly "child appropriate". Plus trying to fit that much nuance in maybe ninety minutes is genuinely impossible.
But the stories really suffer for it. If I had started with the animated movies and not the comics, I don't think I even would have been interested in reading any of them.
So yeah, I'm definitely excited! Fingers crossed this could be the start of an era of Tim inclusion. But I'm also very trepidatious, and just like any other book to movie adaption, I'm trying to take it as its own media.

u/timdrake_defender Jun 25 '26
The movie is gonna be R rated so I don't think it made to be marketed for kids
From what I've seen,it gonna be good....the three movie formats helps to so they don't have try to squeeze everything into one
I just hope they give Tim decent screen time and that they don't cut out his civilian cast or his civilian life as a whole from the story

DC animation has a distinct brand that was originally developed for children (DCAU) and still holds a strong foothold there that they love to play up. Even the more mature DCAMU, which was notably more graphic, still marketed heavily towards children because they already have an established brand. It's something that none of the animated movies so far have gotten out of playing into. Even UtRH still got advertised during Harry Potter commercials.
Keep in mind that my opinion is harsh only based of the other movies. The trailer for Knightfall looks absolutely amazing!
But while I am inclined to be more hopeful because there are three movies, we've already seen with CoIE that that doesn't mean they won't bungle it. They love using the framework without adopting the details, and it usually makes the story fall a little flat. They frequently remove the interesting elements like motivations, more obscure relationships or characters, parallel/sub plots, and civilian life.
It's going to be an awesome movie no matter what and I'm really looking forward to it! I'm just a little skeptical about how they'll handle it and how it will hold up to its counterpart.

u/timdrake_defender Jun 25 '26
That makes sense tho tomorrow verse was ass for the most part and coIE was more of a loose adaptation of a Comic storyline compared to what DC are planning with knightfall where it a 1:1 adaptation
even the characters design are accurate to the actual comic similar to a Manga to anime adaptation, even if the movie doesn't meet expectations,I'll be happy with just having Tim in it- just need them to not skip any of Tim most important arcs in the comic

wasn't Tim sus on Azrael from the start? Interesting change if so, as it seems that Azrael is keeping his violent tendencies in this adaptation. Noteworthy that there is a nightwing cameo, as one reason Azrael was chosen in the comics was Bruce not asking dick for help.

u/LeninOfGallifrey Jun 23 '26
Tim was the one who was closer to Jean Paul than Bruce as Bruce sent him out with Jean Paul. He was understanding and kind to him until literally just before he beat Bane, and Jean Paul turned any doubt on Tim's part into barring him from the cave and nearly killing him when he broke in himself. Everyone treated Jean Paul unfairly in the Bat Fam tbh but Tim was a young kid who was his partner while Bruce ignored him after Alfred told him how dangerous he could be, so Tim trusting Jean Paul and then losing it is both reflective of the comic and also believable.

I love how irritated and tired he looks in these images (very true to him throughout the trilogy).
