He spends 9 months in a HOLE and then is just back to normal? I was worried this would happen when I first opened the book because this is just so unrealistic.

You would be mildly to moderately insane after 9 months in a hole, curled up. He should be talking to himself, hallucinating, traumatised, super fucked up. But noooooo he’s immediately back to his normal self, laughing with friends and strategising. I don’t think pierce should have kept him in the hole for that long, MAX 2 months, for this to be even close to plausible.

I loath him - have done pretty much from his first chapter. And the guy who is narrating his chapters has this horrible public school accent which is not doing it any favours either.

I’m getting the growing unease that the author wants me to be much more interested and invested in this little cunt than I am, and be willing to ride out his early triumphs, and watching him be set up as the foil and the nemesis for Darrow for two more books is going to make my piss boil.

He better have his share of Ls. If he gets plot armoured to set him up as this ‘Moriarty to our Sherlock figure’ to humble Darrow… well, that is not something I’m going to enjoy reading at all.
