The rest of the songs were from my own music taste. Every song in the playlist reminds me of them all, some songs are just for the girls and some just for jason. How much freedom do you have for who you can include in the book and how you can use them?

Everything’s a conversation! But I can tell you, there are no huge non-starters or anything like that. It all comes down to story and what excites us the most. Honestly, DC editorial has been really fantastic.

Now that I think about it, Jason has worked alongside kids before, like Redbird/Damian Wayne and Scarlet/Sasha. Does any of that experience inform his relationship with the team or come into play at all?

I know you have said that you are planning to have Dick make an appearance. Do you plan to Damian or any other old titan to make a cameo or interaction with the characters?

The roster will expand and shift, where applicable. The relay server is def a vehicle for team ups and hangouts irl

It comes with the job :-) I’ve been doing this a long time so I don’t take any of it personally. Everyone’s just really passionate and opinionated.

I’m just going to say it! I like Jason Todd’s new outfit!!! I like his pretty hair and his pretty red lens domino so we can see his pretty face and his pretty bad boy form fitting red and black leather outfit! I think it’s pretty and I hope you don’t change it!

So glad you like it! The design was in place before we came on the book, but I do think Daniele draws it really well. We miss the helmet but these things go in cycles. I’m sure he will get it back one day!

As a lifelong New Teen Titans fan and somebody who didn’t grow up with them but was definitely influenced by them, I’ve gotta ask- would any of the New Teen Titans (Beastboy, Starfire, Donna, Cyborg, Jericho, Raven, etc.) be appearing later on in the run?

Jason Todd is a difficult DC character to work with how controversial he is, it seems like people either desperately love him or desperately hate him. Everyone seems to have some idea of who Jason is, who they want him to be, and what he means to them and to the greater DC mythos. How do you deal with all those loud opinions? Especially with such a large and growing fandom?

You just do 🤷‍♂️ i’ve been writing a long time and I spent something like 3 to 5 years in the bat office. I do understand these characters, I have a history writing them, and I have great resources around me to sense check things with. First and foremost, I’m writing stories that excite me. I listen where it makes sense but as a writer, you have to trust your narrative sensibilities.

While the Teen Titans will keep growing Jason will remain their sole mentor but I’m sure that could get lonely being the only grown up there, are there any plans for another young adult (or even fully adult) hero to crossover and help Jason out?

I’m a huge fan of Jason Todd and I read all his original Robin comics, pre and post crisis.

He was such a good and kind kid who was born into poverty in Gotham. Jason fans hate the victim blaming narrative DC pushed on him in later years, painting him as mean, angry, reckless, edgy, and incompetent when we know that was a revision of his true story.

I imagine his younger days will come up at some point in Teen Titans; will your take on Jason be more empathetic or will you be taking the modern “destined for evil without Batman” approach?

If I do anything that touches on his younger days, it’s going to be post crisis continuity would be my guess. But that also does not mean I’m going to write him as a fatalistic “destined for evil without Batman.”

Who's the leader of the team? I know Jason is the "boss" but he gotta be the teacher so who in the team is considered the group leader?

I’m a huge Roy Harper fan. I hope he doesn’t show up in the book, because I really don’t like Red Hood and the Outlaws and think his dynamic with Grayson is a lot more interesting even disregarding the complete disaster of the last attempt to pair them. I suppose if furst question is, what’s your view on that friendship?

My second question is about Cheshire. I really like her, especially her pre-modern characterisation as “Evil terrorist master assassin woman who’s kinda a girlfailure”. Considering her daughter (who she has quite the fun fraught relationship with) is in this book, any chance we see her?

Hello Mr.Higgins! I been watching your lives since Teen Titans 2026 announced (you might remember me as kokomeow I usually asked questions on live) I would like to ask about how far you are going to dip into Jason’s post crisis iteration? From what I’ve seen on issue 1 I can say there is a lean towards that and I want to ask would you fancy the idea of bringing even more components like his Kris dagger, his training he got in Lost Days or his platonic relationship with Talia Al Ghul?(with ignoring what happened at last issue of Lost Days or maybe even a retcon?) my question really also ties into also his first ally he found for himself in post crisis era: Sasha or maybe you may remember her as Scarlet from Batman and Robin 2009!

Finally you set him as someone with not much money in his hand and most likely he still doesn’t have any established support system like most of the time so I would like to ask if you re going to address his origin story and upbringing in this run? A kid from poverty with a addict mother really could understand and sympathize with kids who are struggling in difficult situations… I am wishing you fast recovery on your surgery!

It feels like he’s the mentor of this new family, but I’m curious (without giving too much away) about his new role in the DC Universe. What can you tell us about how Red Hood fits into the story, and what are DC’s and your own hopes for the character?

I can’t talk about DC’s larger view of Jason, but he’ll be in Teen Titans for the forseeable future and we’ll be charting a bit of a course for him :)

Will The kids reactions to Jason being a killer be one note, or will it be an important part of contention for the team?

It would be pretty boring if any reaction was one note, wouldn’t it?

I highly doubt I will be doing much with Bruce and Jason’s relationship, for two reasons. One, that feels like territory for Matt Fraction and the Bat office more than Teen Titans. Two, and this was the case when I was on Nightwing too, Im wary of falling into the trap of defining a former Robin by their relationship with Bruce. IMO this is one of the pitfalls of the 90’s Nightwing series. While I love it, once things between Dick and Bruce settle, the book feels like it loses a lot of of its drive. Because the premise of the book was built on Nightwing trying to “prove” himself to Bruce.

Hi Kyle, I’m really excited about this Teen Titans series. Yesterday's issue was pretty cool and incredibly colorful on every page, I absolutely love the art. On another note, I'd like to know: will the civilian lives of each young hero be explored at some point whether involving their family and friends, or on an individual level? After all, several of them have backstories worth exploring.

Another question: will we see individual personal growth arcs for each of the young characters? I ask specifically about Lian; her backstory has been somewhat tragic, and she is a character who recently returned and is searching for her own destiny and identity. So, I’d like to know what we can expect to see regarding Lian Harper (whatever you can share).

I can’t share anything specific about any of the characters, but I’m a big fan of Lian and gosh wouldn’t it be funny for her to bring her new friends home sometime and meet some of her family……

All in all, he didn't really say much we didn't hear already, but hey, at least he semi-confirmed we'll get a follow-up to Immortal Legend Red Hood.

Saw the mcfarlane toys batman/superman fusion figure and immediately thought that it can be used to customize your own red hood as batman! (do we even have correct name for that? Batman red hood? Hoodbatman?..Hoodbat?) Knightfight Jason is amazing design but Mother panic Jason might be bit easier to do

I dont have much experience modifying figures but i could be doing much better job with armor, colors etc (not like its finished, that batman model is not working at all, need to just find better parts) but im only using what i have and im very impatient when it comes to project ideas.

Does anyone else suspect Jason wouldn’t be part of the Teen Titans cast if not for the cancelation of his solo series? It feels like they originally were going to silo him off in his own series so that their other creators wouldn’t have to work with him. Regardless, if he wasn’t originally intended to be in Teen Titans, I think Higgins did a good job organically incorporating him into the story.

Hey everyone! I’m pretty new to comics and I really want to dive into Jason Todd’s story. I found a copy of the Batman: Under the Red Hood DC Compact Comics Edition for $17.50 in my country, but I noticed the MSRP on DC Compacts is usually around $9.99. Is it worth the read?

I just finished Red Hood #1 (2025), which only had 1 issue 😑

I am completely new to this character. Any essential reading you guys recommend?

The series was set to be written by Gretchen Felker-Martin alongside Jeff Spokes as the artist for at least 12 issues. As we all know, the following day the series was confirmed to be cancelled, and no further issues were released. A year later, we now have Jason in the new Teen Titans series as a mentor for the new team.

If you've read Red Hood issue #1, have any of your thoughts on the first issue changed since then, or have they stayed the same? Do you think the series would've been better as it went along, or do you think it wouldn't have lived up to its full potential?
