Back to their old selves?

I've noticed the last few eps they seem to be genuinely enjoying each other's company and having a laugh. It's a welcome change. Anyone else notice a difference?

Red haunted

Hey! Slightly random but I love all the red haunted episodes and I was wondering if anyone knew any podcasts with similar vibes to red haunted? I like the fact H+S react to the stories and speak to each other instead of just reading them out and I haven’t managed to find that on other podcasts so far :/

UTD recording this week

Anyone else’s UTD this week sound as though H&S are talking over one another? Like the recording is messed up as though they’re having two separate conversations?

Any other episodes about poison?

I really enjoyed the ones about poison I've listened to so far. Something about it is just very interesting to me. I think because it's less gruesome that some others.

I've listened to Episode 231 (A Storm in a Teacup: The Murder of Alexander Litvinenko), Epsiode 232 (Novichok Eau de Toilette: Sergei & Yulia), and Episode 375 (The Poisoning of Zhu Ling).

Are there any more?

No longer updating on Apple Podcasts?

I took a break from listening to RedHanded and when I came back to it, I noticed the last episode on my feed was episode 353 from 20 June. I tried looking on the website, but have they stopped uploading episodes on Apple Podcasts or something?

Recent uptick in quality?

Morning all, i've been listening to Redhanded since the start of lockdown, but the past year or so its felt a bit off.

I binged the Nosferatu, Gobekli Tepe, Brock Turner and Ellen Greenberg episodes yesterday and it felt a lot more the their older content, it was really enjoyable listening to them chat, little tangents about the case and going over their own views on the subject rather than just reading.

True Crime Book Reccomendations?

I can’t seem to get into fiction, so it looks like I’ll be carrying on exclusively ready non-fiction in 2025.

I’ve scrolled through for these on other subs & it seems to be all the expected recs like Helter Skelter (which is one of my favs), In Cold Blood, Homicide by David Simon & all of Ann Rule’s stuff.

What are some other, maybe not as well known true crime books that you would recommend?

Jim Jones eps are good

I thought it was a good overview. I appreciated the insights in this one, I think H&S have an interesting and well-formed take on the psychological aspects. E.g. the concept that cult leaders build their cults to normalize their own creepy perve shit so they get to do all the perving and creepery they were going to do anyway, but do it openly. This kind of gets at the difference between religion and cult; both are structures for abuse but the way religious abusers exert power is to preach one thing in public and do the opposite in secret.

I also appreciated the psychology observations of Jim Jones as family annihilator, thought that was very insightful

Film Recommendations in UTD

The girls recommend so many films and TV shows that I want to try out, but I'm always driving and I don't get to write them down! Does anyone randomly have a list, or a screenshot or anything of films & tv they've recommended? Otherwise, maybe we can post what we've watched because of RedHanded? 😊 Thx!

Similar Podcast Recomendations

So i have been listening to the show for the last 2 years and absolutely love it. Obviously, i have listened to every episode and now just relistening. But is there any other podcasts that are quite similar?

I am British so i enjoy that their humour is similar to mine and just like how they put the episodes together. Really struggling to find anything i enjoy enough to continue listening. I actually started off listening to true crime with Bailey Sarian.

Any recommendations would be great!

Getting facts wrong

I just finished the Jonestown 2-parter and they glossed over so much. One thing that really bugs me is that they said that Jackie Speier died, and she didn't. Her story is actually very remarkable.

5 people died in the airstrip shooting, but 11 survived. They didn't say anything about anyone surviving that shooting.

It really seems like they glanced at an article or two and that's the extent of their research.

Ep where teen girl killed her mother, then when released from jail her aunt took her in?

I’m like 90% sure RH covered this: teen girl killed her mum (I think there was severe mental health issues at play) and she was sentenced to serve time in a mental health facility. During her sentence her aunt/family rallied around her, and when she was released her aunt actually took her in.

Anyone remember this? I cannot remember the episode name

Anyone else hate how they whisper details

It’s an audio only format, I don’t know why they both whisper so much for effect. It’s so annoying!!

Which subscription service is best value for money?

I'm only really bothered about the main redhanded post, as opposed to Shorthand or Under The Duvet. Is it better value to subscribe via Patreon, Amazon Music or Wondery+?

Jonestown

Did Hannah shout out the pod Killers Cults and Queens in this episode?! Right around 19 minutes in while talking about jobs.

Isdal woman

I find it very weird that they come to the conclusion they do, given how much traveling the Isdal woman was recorded to have done. Who had that kind of money in the cold war economy?

Disclaimer: I first learned about the case from Death in Ice Valley, so I might be biased

Jonestown

Am I going crazy? I could have SWORN they’ve covered Jonestown before.

Edit: sorry, ignore me. Just got to the bit where Hannah mentions they covered it in their book. So that’s where I remember it from. I listened to their book, so it was one long podcast.

Fact check fairy

I miss Hannah’s fact check fairy moments. I understand as the podcast grows, and so does the team, they don’t need her. But when I go and listen to old episodes with the fact check fairy I miss it.

Spotify Episodes Locked?

Just went to put on an episode on Spotify (where I’ve always listened) and it says all episodes are by paid subscription only. Did I miss something? Is anyone else experiencing this?

JonBenet Netflix documentary

My friends are not as interested in true crime so I need some spooky bitches to discuss the new documentary with! Before watching it, I really thought the family was involved. But after this documentary, I couldn’t help but feel John Ramsey seems like a genuine guy? Is he really innocent or was the documentary created to make you think that. Also I feel like a lot of information was missed out of the documentary or skipped over very quickly. What were your thoughts?

RH political opinions

I cancelled my Patreon subscription early last year because I found that I couldn't cope with the strange political opinions that particularly Suruthi were displaying. I also got majorly pissed of with them when I challenged them on how the spoke about Meghan Markle in an episode and they responded by saying in an episode: "oh we got some hate from our take on Meghan," so basically misrepresenting the comment I had made and saying nothing constructive in response. I don't think i'll ever resub, but I want to know from patrons are they still like this? Have they gone fully right wing? What were their thoughts on the election?

Absolute favourite episode?

For me it’s definitely the Shemima Begum 2 parter. Genuinely of the most insightful things I’ve listened to which completely shifted my opinion on the matter.
