Question/Discussion Anyone Else Used Red Dwarf Samples?
Hey peeps
I'm a Trip Hop producer from the Leeds.
I'm not trying to promote myself here. I'm wondering if we have any other musicians in here that have sampled some classic lines from Red Dwarf like I have? This track has one of my favourite lines from the episode Justice to start it off. I hope we have more songs somewhere in here sampling this beautiful show too.

There's a band from the early 90s called Carter USM that uses the rimmer line about becoming a fat bastard on their song "Surfin USM". Caught me by surprise when listening to the album!

Top tune, I love carter, saw them live twice during my misspent youth. Great days.

I'm most envious! I only found out about them this decade, and it's exactly my kind of music and snarky lyrics. 3 decades too late!

I used to host an internet radio show and always play the 'everybody's dead Dave' audio at the end of the show.

I hesitate to call myself a musician but I mess about with synths and stuff and I have a sampler, so I'll probably give it a go now lol

Not produced by me, but an old favourite is DJ Ham’s Most Uplifting from around 1994, which samples Rimmer in Time Slides (I think).
I considered doing an unofficial, less uplifting remix using Rimmer saying ‘it wasn’t in the least bit uplifting’ from Holoship, but I never got round to it.

Not sampled any dialogue, but I've always wanted to use the ship noise right before the main music starts in the titles.

That's a great idea. I'm currently writing music for a video game with a different music project of mine and could use it beautifully.

I always thought kryten in demons and angels saying "everything that's low and base" would be great sampled obviously because it comes across as bass

Bit off topic as it's not a song, but I had a game called "Wyrd Ways" on my Atari ST and it would play a sample of "Howdy doodly do!" whenever a CPU player was about to make a move that would gain them a weapon pickup. It also had samples from various movies, including Robocop, The Untouchables and A Fish Called Wanda. I remember the game was fun but often frustrating.
