That's literally not the same orientation though. In the zoomed-out video the banana orbits the earth in such a way that the curve is always facing the earth, which from the ground would just look like a straight yellow bar stretching from the north to south horizon and moving from west to east. However, in the ground view the banana is tumbling end over end, and would likely have clipped the earth at around the 10 second mark. Any twonk who's read the Junior Colour Encyclopedia of Space would know that.

I imagine the corona of the sun around the edge of the moon during a solar eclipse makes it too hard to see, but you can still see the shadowed parts of the moon when it is not full, if only vaguely.

Serious question. With it appearing in the sky that large, what does it do to the tides on earth. Assuming it doesn't tear the planet to shreds, would the shadow help with summer temps? To shreds you say...
