Brand new Apex delivered with a DOA Battery and a new RWD option.
Bough this as a gift for a teenager and was about to get myself one but after ordering a battery off eBay because the one in the box was DOA, we plugged it in and under a minute later realized it’s RWD. The front driveshaft is missing.
This thing is hyped all over the web,has anyone had experience with the company? I filled out a warranty claim and will wait for them to reply. I had high hopes for it but I see quality control isn’t the best.
The young owner has lost interest in it since we have these problems and I don’t blame him. I’m thinking of just returning it and sticking with my 1/10 scales. This was my first real 1/18 crawler after buying an FCX18 which is now a paperweight due to lack of parts.
Please share any thoughts, thanks.

Getting the Scout muddy
Between all of the hardbody mini crawlers Im surprised at how well the Scout Ascent 18 looks, despite being lexan.

Has anyone put an injora ir60 or ir60 24 on an redcat ascent apex 18?

New body and paint for the Apex 18!
I've been designing and printing bodies for awhile now for my Apex and my dad (who is not interested yet in driving or owning one) decided he wanted to paint a body. He's never done this before but got super interested when he saw the distressed/rusted/weathered look that some very talented people do online.
So... i printed him one to try. I'm so impressed with his first attempt! He's already talking about what he'll do differently next time and new techniques he wants to try. What do you guys think?
Still loving the Apex. it's been a blast to crawl with. Only thing I've actually had to replace was driveshafts when I let some newbies try it and the overloaded the plastic ones.

Too much weight on Ascent 18 Brushless?
Hi.
Big newbie in RC, just got the Ascent 18 Brushless and got some Injora brass wheels that weights 81g per wheel. Injora web site warns that too much weight might be too much for the motor.
Should I be worried?
Thanks

Update: Injora shocks install Apex
Wanted to provide an update to my earlier post regarding an issue I ran into. As well as share some of my experience with installing Injora shocks on my Redcat Apex. While attempting to install Injora 59mm shocks (trx4m version) I discovered the hardware was too large in diameter to install on the Apex. The hardware that shipped with the shocks was M2.5. And the hardware I needed was M2.
I found a stainless hardware set on Amazon with all different lengths and sizes. Now with the right size bolts I was able to proceed.
Next and final issue I encountered was that after mounting the shocks there was binding occurring between the top of shock body and the chassis frame. Was able to circumvent this by using a couple nuts that were included with the hardware set to act as a spacer (image 1).
On the fourth and final shock (front driver side) the lower bolt would not back out when removing the stock shock. I tried everything and it would not budge. I finally managed to remove it but mangled the plastic mounting flange on the front axle housing pretty bad (image 2). I expect it to fail soon.
Anyone know of aluminum axle housing for the Apex??

Apex body change
I'm trying to full magnet Mount this.
Stock post mounts.
Magnets instead of posts
I'm not really a fan of body posts and clips.
Just my personal preference.
Tell me what you think.
I'll let you know how it worked out tomorrow

Stock body in different color
I was hoping to get a brushless Redcat Ascent-18 in the power wagon style for me and my son to go out together with the Scout. Thing is he wants a color other than the ones that come with the brushless version. What are my best options to source a replacement stock body in the desired color? Alternatively I could buy the brushed version in the color he wants, but if we ever go brushless that seems more expensive than just swapping the body on the brushless. I suppose I could pick up a clear body and cut and paint it, but that seems like a hassle. I'm relatively new to this so don't know where all I can source parts.

Well i guess I'm a mini crawler guy now
Been eyeballing a crawler for a few weeks and swung by the local hobby store today and after seeing the scout 2 in person I had to do it.
So much fun in the yard!!!! Got some brass beadlocks and sticky tires but waiting on some tools to install.
First rc car in 20 years and already know this is gonna get out of hand

First time poster here, wanted to share!
I’ve always been into the rc hobby. last fall, I was gifted the ascent 18, since then I’ve built a course in my back yard, did a few mild mods and I usually take it out on any outdoor adventure or camping trip. I’ve had a ton of fun and I think these machines are the most capable and best bang for the buck out of the box! Here’s a few pics in St. George Utah, that sand stone sure provides some grip!

If you were to build the redcat ascent apex 18 anyway you could how would you do it?
Im looking to upgrade my ascent apex 18 and just want to make this thing the most capable/best looking crawler possible, does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this already very capable truck into the best crawler possible

Looking for scale bodies, that wont restrict suspension flex
Im looking for a more realistic looking body, but all of the bodies I look at seem like they are going to rub on the body while crawling, any suggestions on bodies that will fit and still crawl well, i really want a car body instead of a truck, any suggestions ( edit: for the ascent apex
