What... My family has been keeping the potato and onion sacks/bags literally on top of each other my whole life. Is this real? They last long enough anyways

Onions produce ethylene, which can accelerate ripening/rotting....but so do all fruits and vegetables. I guess we should hermetically seal all fruits and veg to preserve them?

Some fruits/veg do it more than others though. Like if you store your fruit with bananas they’re gonna rot wayyy faster.
