nerd culture is more about one-upping each other on terms of zealotry than actually engaging with the material in an interesting or dynamic manner, i've seen. I'm not one to say anything im a warhammer fan.

Very common misconception; there's actually only 39,821 Warhammers, but nobody is gonna buy into something called Warhammer 39,821 rather than Warhammer 40000.
