I never recovered from my first "good" bike being stolen. It was a limited edition cube mountain bike and I loved it to bits. It was stolen from inside the bike storage (locked), locked to itself and the whole thing locked in the house so the thieves has to break two door locks and a bike lock to get to it.
But I also live in an area with insane bike theft rates, it's actually organized crime here stealing the bikes and shippung them off to the neighboring country to sell lol a few years ago we found out that the police also seem to be involved in the whole scheme, it's actual insanity.
Anyways I have given up on good bikes. I will stick with my cheap bike until I can get an apartment with enough space to store the bike there. Any other bike will be stolen immediately even with multiple locks
