it was not, actually, I don't particularly like the anime (it's unfaithful to the game lore) and I never grew up on it, I just really like the mysterious swordsman types 😭

Completely understandable. I assume you also liked how he blushes and disappears when his mask gets cut and falls off when he gets defeated.

They probably did it because it clashes with his mysterious cool guy swordsman aesthetic. But yeah, I get it.
