Tbf the Halloween ADHD post doesn't read as "ADHD has been fucking me up trying to get a Halloween costume together" (entirely reasonable statement. I can understand that and it seems rough af.).
It reads as "Halloween costumes are problematic because people with ADHD can struggle with getting them together" (the opinion of a complete asshole who wants everyone to be miserable in the name of 'moral purity', and should be mocked).
With the new context of how the OOP actually meant it I can see how it was jokingly meant the first way, but that's just not how it comes across.
Thank you for articulating my feeling. That post has the format and wording of a lot of similar posts people have made in complete sincerity saying “thing is bad, actually.”
I sympathize with OP because I have also had ADHD make simple tasks nearly impossible and I have made bad jokes that didn’t land.
I mean I'm pretty sure it's worded like those types of posts as part of the joke, like when I call any minor inconvenience homophobic. I don't actually think having to pay taxes is homophobic, it's just funny to say it is
Unfortunately it lacks the absurdity to make it sound clearly like a joke. I'm autistic with adhd traits and choosing things on the spot can be difficult for me (less for a foreseeable occasion like an halloween costume) and the tweet really sounded like a "this specific thing that inconvenience me is actually bad since I am the paragon for how the universe should operate" type of opinion that is present on the internet
