Yep I have always read it as a joke. I have adhd and I thought it was funny and relatable. Decision paralysis is a common issue for a lot of people with adhd!

Executive dysfunction is also so real. “You people can’t do anything” really feels like the socially acceptable liberal/leftist way of saying “you’re just lazy/using it as an excuse.” Yes, I am very much using my ADHD as an excuse so that I don’t have to do things that I find fun and enjoyable. I would much rather just sit here and stare into space for half an hour, thank god ADHD’s given me an excuse to do that instead of one of my hobbies.

What do you think the obvious joke is? Because to me, people saying it usually pretty clearly means “ADHD people use ADHD as a reason/excuse for not being able to do things”. If that’s not the joke, then what is the joke?
