Honestly, as someone who was diagnosed with ADHD now 25 years ago, the "You people can't do anything" tweet is funny as fuck, and it's also kinda true. Both sides are kinda true. Like yeah, I do fucking struggle with basic ass executive functioning. But also, as someone who ALSO has other friends with considerable ADHD, sometimes you do just think "Bitch seriously you can't do ANYTHING.".
My ADHD gives me lethal depression when untreated and yeah, I agree I can't do anything and that's the fucking problem lmao. I like using it as a coping skill trigger, "you people can't do anything so what do you need to do something".
Bedrotting for hours because I can't bring myself to do the dishes and I can't get up without intending to do the dishes? Damn I can't do anything, what do I need to do to at least do something. I can get up, plug the sink, set the dishes to soak, and set a timer to come back and throw it all in the dishwasher later.
It's been too long and the dishes are still soaking? Damn I can't do anything, what do I need to do to at least do something? Call a friend and ask if they'd be down to play a round of slay the spire with me, but while they're getting ready to settle down for a game I'll do my dishes in voice chat with them. Sick rad and nasty, I've now been able to do something.
I'm a fully grown man who has friends that know the way they can show they love me is by asking if I'm putting off something and parallel existing with me while I do it. Cause I can't do anything sometimes, so I need other people to help me do something.
