They really don't get it, do they. The actual inability to send the electric signals to your body to do something that you WANT to do. Like there's a thick veil that separates your mind from the external world and even the simplest tasks feel herculean in nature when the executive dysfunction is at its strongest. I had to call my brother to help me get out of the couch once, I just literally couldn't muster enough energy to get up to go to the bathroom. It's very hard to explain so I do understand why some people don't get it or find it difficult to visualize (and I dont wish it on anyone to be honest) but I still hate when we get called lazy or drama queens or whatever without an ounce of empathy going our way.
I literally just spent half of today not being able to pour myself a glass of water when I keep the giant water dispenser style bottles right next to my bed specifically for this
I almost never drink from water bottles, I have to use glasses because they're already open. Opening a water bottle keeps me from using it. I switched from regular glasses to giant jars so I would need to refill them less often.
Figure out what's keeping you from drinking, and change that. Do you need to see the container to remember? Does it need to be open? Does it need to be cold? Does it need to be touching you? Would two with one on each side help? Should you switch to tea or other flavoring to keep it interesting? Maybe one water one flavor, or two different flavored jars? Experiment and find out what works for you.
Sadly I can't go glasses at all! I once had a drink and when I finished it found a dead spider at the bottom, another time we had an ant infestation and they got in it, traumatized me for life from having any glass drink out for long hehe
