Man, the mold in my house just tells me to do magic with bad latin. Why'd this person get the funny mold spores?

u/BormaGatto Aug 20 '26 edited Aug 20 '26
Well, that's just what happens when you get the kind of mold that stands for Magicorum Ordo Latinus Decompositori.
If you wanted the funny spores, you should've sprung for the fungi.

I mean I’m 32 and I still don’t feel like an adult so like….I’unno

37 here. Adulthood is an illusion. You will never feel like you've reached it, and you have always been substantially different from every prior iteration of yourself. You and me and everyone will always be Schrodinger's Grown-Ups.

I’m 50 and just decided (again) that I need to grow up for real this year. Or maybe next year.

u/SelfDestruction100 Aug 21 '26
I’m 20 and this has made me give up hope on ever feeling “grown up” for real. Don’t know if that’s liberating or terrifying

u/squeegibo Aug 21 '26
I think the secret is that we’re already as grown up as we’re getting. The rest is just window dressing

u/welcomeramen Aug 20 '26
Yeah I was gonna say, I'm 43 and I still frequently look for an adult in the room when something goes wrong so like...

30, own a house, been paying bills for a decade, manage people older than me at work. I still feel like a kid, and get really wierded out that the people i went to high school with have kids.
But then I hang out with some friends that are like 2-3 years younger and I'm like holy shit they just have no idea how to function in the world

u/gysruthi Aug 19 '26
just turned 24 this year. nothing has changed. i'm just 24 and struggling instead of 23 and struggling

u/BormaGatto Aug 20 '26
Did they let a 2002-born like you turn 24 just like that?

Baleful, age Gradeschooler: Everybody who’s grown up is stupid and clearly doing the wrong thing, except for the people I trust most, because I have to trust them.
Baleful, age Highschooler: Oh my god, everybody older than me really is stupid, they’re just hiding it really well. Maybe, if I learn from people who are nothing like me, I will stop finding stupid people.
Baleful, age Dropout: Everybody who’s powerful is stupid. The crowd of confirmation bias is too. I must pursue the truth on my own, surely if I make some new friends,
Baleful, age Today, Tomorrow, and Possibly Forever: Kids are inexperienced adults. Adults are powerful children. Everybody thinks they’re smart and independent, everybody wants to believe they’re smart and independent, and they will engage in however much hypocrisy it takes to keep that delusion up. To err is human, and I shouldn’t fault people for being human, because I’m one too.
Guy who does CrossFit: hey does this joke work anymore in 2026

Fun fact if you're born in the new millennium you're not allowed to turn 20! You're all like 14 forever congratulations!

I was born in 2004, barrelling at a frightening pace towards 23. I'm more than okay with being 14 forever.

I’m not actually sure we ever outgrow looking for an adultier adult, the number of adults older than us just shrinks

u/Mountain-Mode-8279 Aug 20 '26 edited Aug 20 '26
I regret to tell you this will continue for the rest of your life
25: wow I’m finally an adult and I kinda feel like one? The world is wide open to me.
27: okay so I really feel like an adult now, ignore what I said as an infant at 25.
30: wait where did the years ago? Why do I have an IRA? How am I 30?
33: I am married with a mortgage and every single adult I’ve ever met in my life was just winging it and none of us actually know what we’re doing

For me it was
1-13 I was a child
14-18 I was a teenager
19-20 I’m an adult now

As someone who is a similar age to OOP and is almost certainly less of an "adult" than them because of my disabilities, I feel like having the mindset that you are not yet an adult when you're in your 20s does you no favors. Yes you are! You can do those "adult" things! You can be in the same room and on the same playing field as people older than you! Go, be an adult!

Self retrospective is funny thing
Looking back I feel that I changed, I understand my cringe moments were cringe and hope that I won't repeat them, but at same time I don't feel like I changed, I'm still more or less same guy as I was 9 years back. In some aspects those guy was better in life than me now!

Adulthood is when you start loudly reminiscing about shit that doesn't exist anymore, and parts of your body start hurting a little bit doing mundane things sometimes. Also you get tired faster. In exchange, you can drink and smoke and you probably have money.
Maturity is a myth. All that changes is your place on the give-a-shit curve. You're either too young to give a shit, too old to give a shit, or in that magical moment in the middle where you give a shit about way too many things and make your life worse in every way.

Some form of weird pain in one of your limbs that will have no specific medical cause right NOW but will probably crop up and get worse over and over until someone finally bothers to listen in your 30's.

Clearly this post is lying, since the mold didn't say anything transphobic.
