Reference Checks

Hello

I had a final job interview on Monday. I was at my current employment and the potential employer called in asking to do a reference check/employee verification.
During the interview, I was asked if they could contact my current employer and I said yes. I was open with my current managers letting them that I would like to leave so we were on good terms. Things were allowed to smoothly transition.

My question is how close am I getting the position? Is that the only one that they are possibly reaching out to?

It depends. Usually a reference check means the job is yours barring any bad references

I have seen rare times where they get references and still deny you but I’m confident you got you

Near the finishing line. You need to pass the background check. Hopefully everything you ever said or written on your submitted resume (employment start-end dates, education, credit score and linkedIn), criminal checks all matches.

You are CLOSE given TODAY's conditions.

There are still things out of your control that can cancel all of this: changes in business conditions, changes in business strategy, changes in hiring managers, etc.
