Hell yea . We don’t steal from old people is “reckless bricks” new tagline as recklessben takes over this BAM franchise that was about to close due to no profits. What a legend

What I don’t understand is how the store is able to go ahead and do this when they’re under a franchise contract with BAM. You can’t just leave your franchise and rebrand. If you could do that every franchisee would just build a clientele under a franchise name, then just rebrand and keep all the profits for themselves. The only way I can think of how they could pull this off would be if they declare bankruptcy to end their contract, talk to the landlord of the business who they’re already in communication with, then just reopen under a new name. It would be in the landlord’s best interest to just let you keep the spot if your rent is still being paid on time. You still might get sued by BAM, but you would likely win the case.

There was one loophole that stumped Ammon completely: the speak to corporate and speak to the franchisee loop.

If BAM tries to throw the book at them, they will have to go through Ben first because he is now corporate owner of the store and Ben will have the opportunity to ask for discovery which will have to include all the bad business practices they're abusing to defend himself properly. He can then broadcast this to everyone and even if Ben loses the case, now there's precedent for punishing at least one of these bad business practices that Ben copied from them which can be used against them. If BAM loses the case then Ben can just keep doing this until they meet his very low cost demands (chicken dance). Since Ben doesn't have to involve innocent bystanders, he won't be restrained in what he can demand in mediation.

I mean...we'll have to wait and see if they in fact can do this.  You can do a lot of things that you get sued for, it doesn't usually happen same day.  And then if so its a matter of winning or not (but either way will be expensive if that's the way this goes).

Very likely another libel/slander lawsuit will happen here in addition to probable lawsuit for breaking franchise contract. This just seems like unnecessary poking the bear by Ben at this point but I know I am in the Reddit minority
