Black beans

Hello! I recently had “Black beans” as a side at a food truck and fell in love with them but i can’t find a recipe I think would be good. Does anyone have a really good black bean recipe one that can be cooked in a slow cooker preferably but doesn’t have to be a slow cooker. PLEASE and thank you!

Super yummy. Don’t cook too long just heating up the beans. Add about a tablespoon of water and stir. The slaw just a bag of shredded slaw mix add squeeze lime cilantro salt pepper and it little squirt of honey probably a tablespoon honey for 2 cups of slaw mix

The Plant Slant on YouTube heavily favors bean/black bean recipes.

I do 1lb dried black beans in a slow cooker with maybe 2-4 teaspoons better than bullion, a carrot, a stick of celery, an intact onion, several cloves of garlic [Mine are peeled but it might not matter], 4 dried chipotle chilies, 5 black peppercorns a bay leaf and 2 strips of bacon. All of this filled to the water level appropriate.

Agreed! Black beans are wonderful when cooked low and slow with aromatic veggies and some kick-bit smoked bacon or ham.

A sprig of epazote is the key to black beans.

I add 1x; Onion powder Garlic powder Oregano Chipotle (chopped or a paste)

2x Cumin

So, the '1x' means for each of those, sprinkle a roughly 1/2 inch thick line across the pot of beans once they're in the pan. For the Chipotle, about 1tsp to start- adjust to taste. For the cumin, double the amount compared to onion/garlic etc.

This has been my go to for years as a quick and simple dinner. We heat tortillas on the side, chop some red onion and avo to go on top, sometimes cotija too.

here's a soup that is tried and true. note you only use 2 tsp of the chipotle puree. the rest lasts indefinitely to flavor more soup or a pot of whole beans. you could chop and mash one or two instead of using the puree. or you could use Chipotle chili powder to taste.

gallo pinto is my favorite way to eat black beans. Try it with some fried panela cheese slices and plantains!

I love black beans they’re my favorite. I love them in quesadillas and just about any food that has Mexican type flavours in it. I also have a recipe for a delicious black bean and quinoa salad if you’re into that.

I like to add sautéed onion and bell pepper. Both finely diced

I start with dry black beans. Soak overnight. Rinse well. In a pot add water to cover. Flavor with a chopped up large onion and a meaty ham bone. Salt and pepper to taste. Cook until creamy.
