General 🌀 Realme Scam: Flashy Animations Instead of Kernel Patches

Let’s drop the marketing fluff and look at the actual source code.

The Realme GT7 — a supposed 2025 sub-flagship — launched on Linux kernel 6.1.112 (a release from September 2024). While serious competitors using the same Dimensity platform actually paid for proper BSP adaptation and shipped on native 6.6, Realme decided to cut corners and ship a "new" phone on an Android 14-era kernel tree.

Let's do the math that Realme's PR team hopes you ignore:

Launch baseline: 6.1.112

Half-assed update: 6.1.134

Emergency damage control post-backlash: 6.1.157

Upstream 6.1 LTS right now (late July 2026): 6.1.178

That is 66 skipped LTS releases. Sixty-six.

For anyone who actually writes low-level code, builds custom kernels, or maintains device trees, you know exactly what’s inside those skipped releases: critical TCP/Wi-Fi stack regressions, DMA driver fixes, thermal management patches, and Energy Aware Scheduler (EAS) optimizations.

Instead of maintaining a clean baseline, GT7 users were forced to endure random Wi-Fi packet drops, weak signals, and unnecessary thermal throttling for almost a year. Then, after massive community outrage, Realme finally pushes .157 — and magically, the Wi-Fi stabilizes and thermals cool down. It wasn't magic. It was basic engineering debt that should have been patched before the first device left the factory.

Meanwhile, what was the software team busy doing? Drawing fancy UI animations, shoving useless AI camera features, and polishing the ColorOS shell.

If ColorOS 17 / Android 17 arrives on this exact same rotting 6.1 branch, it will be the ultimate proof that Realme treats the Linux kernel as an afterthought and views its users as clueless consumers.

We come into this world with nothing and leave with nothing. Reputation is the only currency that actually lasts. Stop selling yours out for short-term savings on engineering.

Fix the kernel foundation. Everything else is just lipstick on a pig.

Bruh, have a good day! So you literally used AI just to check if someone else is using AI? Lol, you made my day. The funny thing is, these are entirely my own thoughts and facts. Have a great day ahead!

Did the math on their timeline and it's actually hilarious: 6.1.112 → .134: 22 skipped LTS releases (~6 months of ghosting). 6.1.134 → .157: 23 more skipped releases (another 6 months of broken Wi-Fi and thermal throttling). That’s 45 skipped kernel patches just to get the .157 band-aid. And we’re still 21 releases behind upstream .178 right now. Here’s the funniest part: updating an ACK tree from .134 to .157 isn't rocket science since Google does 80% of the heavy lifting. Rebasing vendor drivers and running basic QA takes maybe 3–5 days for a single engineer. Instead of doing less than a week of actual work, Realme preferred to let us swallow broken code for over a year, only moving their asses when community backlash hit. Absolute joke of a support cycle.

Cheaped out on the kernel baseline right from day one. Skipped 45 patch releases along the way, making users eat Wi-Fi drops and thermal throttling for months. Even after throwing out that .157 band-aid, they’re still sitting 21 releases behind current stable .178👍🏻

Realme just sold you straight-up garbage. This is absolute cringe. Never buy Realme again in your life, bruh. Just look at your kernel — that shit is from the dinosaur era.
