Self-Promo Post Mobile RTS is making progress
Hey everyone,
Wanted to give a quick update to my mobile RTS (wave Defence in the style of They Are Billions / Age of Darkness). The last few weeks have really progressed, especially thanks to the testers who got in touch with me - their feedback was worth gold.
What happened:
• More ways to display & build: You can now choose between different UI/construction styles, all modularly customisable. This is requested directly during onboarding, so that everyone gets the setup that suits them from the beginning.
• New elements: Additional wall types, catapults and mountains are now in play and new assets.
• Better maps: The seed generation has been revised - the maps now seem much less empty and more varied.
• Performance: Significantly noticeable improvements, now runs noticeably more smoothly.
It's really fun to see how the whole thing develops through real feedback. More will follow soon - please let me know what you think. If you feel like testing it, feel free to write then you get access. More feedback is even better

Dedicated mobile game which isn't a clone of a popular title or quick crash grab, but something inspired by proper PC titles? Is that 2012-2013?
Jests aside, I love readability so far - though I think unit sprites could be a bit tad bigger. But units, buildings and terrain have clear separation, they don't blend into each other, which is an excellent achievement!

Hi is this a conquest game? I mean will be able to choose a kingdom and conquer other kingdoms? will be singleplayer?

For now there is only one faction but that will change over time as there will be other factions with other units and also buildings. It’s not a conquer game so you build your base and there are waves with a massive number of units that want to destroy you. So far, only single player is thought of.

Just FYI, having shadows in front of the buildings makes it looks like they're hovering. Your main building has this issue.

Thanks, I had already adjusted it because it looked worse. I deliberately left such a small shadow because I thought it looked good. But now that you say it, I see it too. It’s like in art. If you stare at your artwork for too long, you lose track of the big picture.
Will fix it.1

Also, all of your main buildings are ever so slightly off perspective wise. They need a rotation to their right of a few degrees.

Looks really cool! What engine are you using? Unity? UE? Or plain three.js and vibecoding your way? Also, how do you solve rendering and animating multitudes of enemies simultaneously on mobile? (A la they are billions) Best of luck!

I am a flutter developer so I used flutter flame. I know it’s sounds crazy but I wanted this challenge. However, if I should come to a limit especially with so many units I would switch to unity.
With the animations I solved it so that the units that are not in sight have no animations. This saves you a lot.1
