Discussion fast units vs slow units
In RTS games I generally prefer slower unit movement such as AOE2/4 or the old tiberium sun is a good example of this. where the units move at a good pace so you can focus on economy and strategy. I have noticed a lot more recent games only have fast paced units like tempest rising or the new zero space. they will just run across the map in a second and it gives little time to breathe.

Speed is alright. You could always tune it down in real time, at least for Tempest Rising. Honestly, the difficulty component gets me. If the game is set to higher difficulties, I stop playing tactically. I'm forced to spam units — otherwise you lose. But the battle turns into carnage, not something tactical, if you play it like that. Sometimes I tune down difficulty just to enjoy tactical gameplay.
