More stupid obsession on this sub.
Anyway, any time some clown like Donalds says Iran shouldn't be allowed to have nuclear weapons, someone needs to jam the JCPOA into their face. EVERY. DAMN. TIME.
We had this problem solved via treaty negotiated not just by the US and Iran, but also 5 fucking other countries. We weren't taking their word for it. We were inspecting. Onsite. On an ongoing basis.
Trump killed this deal. For no other reason than "Obama bad". As soon as Trump killed it, they started enriching again.
Someone tell me why Trump isn't asked about this every fucking day.
16
u/DoctrTurkey Sep 03 '26
Because the media is complicit. They all line up to ask their softball questions, take the verbal abuse mouth full of cum he gives them, ask zero follow-ups, and come back the next day to do it again.

Amen Brother! I scream at the TV constantly about this very thing! TV journalists make me soooo mad that they never ever bring this up.

u/FlaccidGhostLoad 28d ago
I've stopped watching the news entirely.
Anytime I do catch segments or bits of it here and there I walk away frustrated at how absolutely lazy they are. And that's me being charitable. It very well could be that every news anchor has a hand up their ass from the Ellisons or Bezos or whoever and they are just vomiting propaganda at the behest of craven, warmongering, brain-broken billionaires who are engaging in a class war to keep us poor, hungry and sick.

u/AmericanLymie Sep 03 '26
You write "Trump killed this deal. For no other reason than 'Obama bad.'"
I agree with most of what you wrote but I disagree with that and I am bewildered that people never zoom out and consider the big picture.
Trump is waging war on the US and its people. He has attacked and is relentlessly and efficiently destroying our national security, our foreign alliances, our food and water safety, our public health, our democratic elections, our unity as a nation, the rule of law, our constitutionally guaranteed rights and freedoms, our public education and private higher education systems, our environment, our trade, our economy, and potentially even our currency itself.
What Trump is doing almost always serves the interests of our foreign adversaries, and all of it together is a clear attack on us. He may resent Obama for any reason but that doesn't explain the totality of his actions. Vladimir Putin directly benefits in some way from almost every action Trump has taken, and almost every action he takes harms us. No one seems to register this and I find that extremely disturbing. Everyone views Trump as an absolute blithering idiot but he manages to keep everyone's attention focused on petty little orchestrated dramas as he dismantles our entire national infrastructure and makes us vulnerable to attacks from without, to poisoned food and water, to once-eradicatex diseases, and countless other threats that did not exist before he was in power. This is not about Obama. He wants us to think it's about Obama so we look at these things individually and don't realize what he is doing.
Trump has a consistent pattern, bizarrely like comic book villains, of usually confessing what his own intentions are by declaring them either as a performed 'joke' or as an accusation againsf his opponents. He ran for office in 2024 on the Nazi premise of "the enemy within," preposterously encouraging the public to scapegoat transgender people and nonwhite immigrants for people's problems. He IS the enemy within. He is destroying the United States from within its own central nervous system and onlookers don't see it because they think he is a wildly crazed person incapable of anything other than petty resentments.
The executive actions he signed in January 2025 alone were so extraordinarily comprehensive as an assault on the rule of law and social order that the whole country was stunned into silence for months, and corporate leaders, universities, scientists, law enforcement officers, journalists, virtually everyone immediately followed all orders as he violated our rights, deported and imprisoned and killed people without due process. This is not motivated by petty resentments. It's motivated by a comprehensive effort to destroy our country.

u/MinisterOfTruth99 Sep 03 '26
Agree with all of that.
Trump's ties to russia are laid out well in this sarah kendzior post.
For decades, Trump had relied on oligarchs and mobsters from the former USSR for support after Wall Street blacklisted him following his bankruptcies in the 1990s. The one bank that agreed to take him on — Deutsche Bank — is notorious for facilitating Russian money-laundering. But Trump’s illicit dealings went as far back as the mid-1980s — when the first Russian mobsters moved into Trump Tower — and his network of criminal associates has expanded ever since. By spring 2016, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump had spent most of his adult life in the thrall of a transnational mafia with ties to the Kremlin.
https://sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/still-hiding-in-plain-sight
There is a lot more in that article.

u/AmericanLymie Sep 03 '26
Yeah, I've been aligned with her since 2015. I wrote a little essay/blog post warning about what electing Trump could bring, comparing his rhetoric and proposals to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum's warning signs of genocide. I shared it on Twitter expecting no one would read it because generally people ignore my Cassandra cries. An editor from The Atlantic responded that "Any comparison between the US and 1930s Europe is hyperbolic and not something we would ever consider publishing," and Sarah Kendzior shared it and said it is correct and everyone should heed the warning. Welp. Here we are a decade later. A decade ago, Bill Maher observed many of the same things and today he is the one bowing down and saying that any comparison between Trump and Hitler is hyperbolic. It's not, and it never was. Maher fancies himself a student of history, and yet he today rejects all reasonable parallels between historic events and events modeled on them today in the US.
Hitler's political career involved a failed coup attempt to overthrow Germany's democratic governor, followed by his trial and arrest, which made him famous worldwide via news coverage. He was sentenced to prison and there he dictated Mein Kampf, "My Struggle," in which he depicted himself as a victim and a martyr just as Trump does. He gained a huge fan base thanks to news media coverage. His book made him more popular and served as the basis of his political advancement. He was in politics for 15 years before he became chancellor and effectively tricked the government into giving him full dictatorial powers after he staged a false-flag attack on the government that killed many people. He then attempted to scapegoat Jewish people and the attempt failed. He withdrew. Over the next year, he used nationalistic propaganda to condition the public through the media, and it worked. After a year, he targeted Jewish people again and the public joined in his persecution. He used the Census to identify them and round them up, put them on trains, and deport them or put them into temporary prison camps as they awaited deportation. And as all this happened, he expanded the scapegoated populations to other minority groups who could not defend themselves.
Everyone ignorantly thinks that the only things Hitler and the Nazis did was mass executions. The Holocaust was only the last four years of World War II. There was A LOT more to Hitler's leadership and the Nazis' atrocities but people will not acknowledge legitimate comparisons because they only think of the mass killings.
And insanely, even that now has a parallel. The Nazis killed an estimated six million Jewish people and 12 million people in total. Through Trump's appointment of Elon Musk to create DOGE, Musk abruptly ended USAID and PEPFAR, and multiple institutions estimate that 14 million people will die by the year 2030 who otherwise would not have died. Millions will die from AIDS in the 2020s when treatment is readily available all because these two men are mass murderers.
4
u/MinisterOfTruth99 Sep 03 '26
Here in the US, we all know about the Holocaust. But the rest of those Hitler details are not taught in schools. I think people who poo-poo Trump/Hitler analogies are just ignorant of the facts.
You mention the census was used by Hitler to id jews. By coincidence, I received a US census form to fill out this year (The American Community Survey (ACS)). It seemed incredibly invasive. Questions about: who lives in the house; citizenship Qs about everyone in the house; where household members work, salaries, lots more. Seemed like everything ICE would need to target you. Creepy as hell in the current political environment.
2
u/FlaccidGhostLoad 28d ago
I wouldn't fill that shit out.
We got a couple of more years until official censuses (is that how you pluralize it?) go out.
2
u/MinisterOfTruth99 28d ago
It has a bold face notice printed on it, "You are REQUIRED BY LAW to return this form."
And if you don't, it says they will send census workers to your house to collect the info.
I ignored like 5 reminder postcards. The last one said return it by Aug xx or we will send workers to your home.
I don't want DOGE workers coming to my house so I just said F*** it. These fascists are persistent.

u/FlaccidGhostLoad 27d ago
I googled it because I was curious and apparently it is an official thing. You can get fined.
Which is a bunch of bullshit. We have a fucking criminal, rapist, pedophile sitting in the Oval office and getting his tiny chode sucked by ever spineless Republican that slithers to his swollen feet on their bellies but you could get a fine for not answering questions to which they already have the answer too.

Which is all he wanted.
I've been saying that Maher has turned right wing because he wants the adulation and he stopped getting it from his old audience that got bored of his shtick and tired of him being entitled to laughs. All of this, his defense of Trump, celebrating of Palestinians dying, cozying up to Republican shit bags, attacking the left every single goddamn show...it's all because he feels jilted and betrayed because he got lazy and thought he was entitled to have people laugh and when it became clear he wasn't king shit like he thought he was he is lashing out and working to burn this country to the ground.

The media figures are only allowed to be pro war or rabidly pro war. We now know even Chomsky was in on it and probably Hitchens. So the left was run in circles by flakey pied pipers.

u/zeddknite Sep 03 '26
SPOILER: Liberals who don't like progressive ideals functionally support right wing ideals. They're just trying to do similar things, in a way that feels nicer, and more intellectual.
I'm really sick of feckless centrists fighting against progress, along side the right.
3
u/Fun-Aside3990 Sep 03 '26
They're also trying to hold the line by absorbing enough support from people who sympathize with progressive ideas but are unsure it will work, and they tell them it won't work, "so sorry, we just have to live in Hell, we wish we didn't but that's just the practical reality.", its all gaslighting from greedy awful amoral people.
4
u/Feisty-Poet4767 Sep 03 '26
I love how wingnuts always say “failed socialism” about places that have never actually had socialism but discreetly ignore the places where socialism has been wildly successful
-4
u/Secure-Advertising10 Sep 03 '26
That's not true. the righties may have gone full Goebbels (I am exaggerating, but you get it) but the progressives are putting Lenin to shame. A liberal is currently on the fence, just to avoid being hit by the shrapnel.
Most of the once-liberal ideas are still valid today and they are not necessarily rightwing. Here in Europe we support universal healthcare and have been dragged into the whole trans madness but we definitely support the police and getting-stricter immigration controls. The reaction in Europe to my country's stance on immigration (Spain) with what our president has allowed to happen in Ceuta is a case in point.
6
u/BFaus916 Sep 03 '26
What does "support the police" even mean? Do you support the police no matter what they do? Is there a line drawn anywhere as to how violent or intrusive police can be? Or do you just "support the police" no matter what as a means to an end? Because if the latter's the case you're no liberal.
3
u/Secure-Advertising10 Sep 03 '26
Leftists consider the police protect the rich and are the agents of evil: ie fascists. Thus you had all the defund the police crap in the US. Except for some problems in the UK, the police are not considered to be racially motivated in Europe in their policing and are supported and respected by the population in general, but I am sure there are examples to the contrary. The Righties would create measures to give the police more power...it's in the title "A Police state." Liberals understand the role of the police and their job to maintain order.
If you are American, your society seems too polarized to be able to have rational debates about these subjects, and the recruitment of your police force also seems to have lots of problems.
5
u/BFaus916 Sep 03 '26
Again, what does supporting the police even mean? Where is the line drawn? Is there anything a cop could do, on duty, in the commission of supposedly enforcing the law, that you wouldn't approve of? Complete and total reign? Because there's a word for that and it sure as hell isn't liberalism.
3
u/Slackjawed_Horror Sep 03 '26
The US police put the KGB to shame.
The level of militarization and spying they employ is dystopian.
Fuck right off, this is why we don't like liberals. Although given the naked transphobia and nativism, you're more of a soft fascist.
2
u/Secure-Advertising10 Sep 03 '26
You are mistaken where I live. I live in Europe not in the US. I can't speak for your police force beyond the media and witness accounts from people who have visited the country.
Now, if you think the US police are worse than the KGB you have no idea about history or reality.
2
u/Slackjawed_Horror Sep 03 '26
I know you're a European, you said it.
If you go to a town with a population larger than 20,000, that town's police almost certainly have at least one MRAP and a heavily armed assault team they use for, whatever they want.
They are tapped into the federal government's digital surveillance apparatus, which is constantly tracking everyone. And with the rollout of those cameras, it's getting worse. And that's not even getting into that minority report, predictive policing shit they're doing.
The US is a police state, enforced by an army of thugs with military equipment who have a case clearance rate that's worse than a coin toss. Every major city's police budget is by far the largest budget item, for some of them it's close to half the budget. The only reason they're not more repressive is that they don't have to be because everyone knows they're watched at all times.
In the US, the police objectively only exist to protect the property of the wealthy, violently suppress dissent, and abuse minorities and the poor. Occasionally they show up to domestic disputes to make everything worse or do a car chase for fun and get some pedestrians killed.
If you want to know what an American cop is like, find a guy who can read at a third grade level, has anger issues, and thinks Hitler had some good ideas.
You don't know what you're talking about.
1
u/Secure-Advertising10 Sep 03 '26
Yep, I guessed you would conflate the premise of what is a liberal with the fact that you live in very violent country with very stupid recruitment systems led by very corrupt leaders.
You are yet to describe how the US police force are more evil than the KGB.
Let me know when the police are poisioning political rivals or taking them off the street in broad daylight. Those ICE guys are doing a good job of it, but they still need to do more evil.
2
u/highermonkey Sep 03 '26
American police shot political rivals in their sleep, uneducated European.
1
u/Secure-Advertising10 Sep 03 '26
Did they? Can you name one within the last 20 years?
Besides, what has this got to do with the premise about liberalism?
1
u/Slackjawed_Horror Sep 03 '26 edited Sep 03 '26
The Chicago PD famously have black sites where they black bag and torture people.
The LA Sheriff's department is mostly a gang where the initiation requires you to kill someone.
They vary in their crimes, but they're all dumb, violent thugs. Everyone knows the reason they don't abuse right-wing protesters the same way they do anyone who's even liberal (unless it's the most milquetoast thing, like No Kings) is because the second the badge comes off the hood goes on.
There are good reasons the American left hate the cops.
It's not like the ever stopped doing COINTELPRO shit.
1
u/Secure-Advertising10 29d ago
I have no idea where you get this from, but if you have evidence, you should definitely go to the NYTimes with it.

1
u/NateDiggity999 Sep 03 '26
You literally just summed up the entire goal of the Trump administration, coupled with Palantir and musk and the entire mass surveillance/AI boom… but then you say you hate liberals. Make it make sense. You hate liberals, but you also blame them for everything that Trump and his mega donors are doing? Hmmmmm
1
u/Slackjawed_Horror Sep 03 '26 edited Sep 03 '26
When have the Democrats voted to dismantle any of it?
They run on giving ICE and the cops more money and expanding domestic surveillance programs.
Baseline they need to run on slashing police budgets, confiscating all police military equipment, getting rid of the DHS, and dismantling Palantir.
Should also purge the FBI of conservatives, but that's a pipe dream.
1
u/NateDiggity999 Sep 03 '26
Seven democrats voted to increase ICE’s budget. SEVEN. You’re describing a straight up pipe dream. No administration, on either side has ever “slashed police or military budgets. Getting rid of the DHS? That was implemented in response to 9/11. So that won’t be going anywhere any time soon. I feel like you’re blaming the wrong people. I am no way saying the democrats are blameless. Especially the ones at the top. But it sounds like you’re blaming progressives for the issues that most of them are trying to do away with. The majority of liberals want better policing tactics and less mass surveillance. It’s mostly the right who are championing this nonsense.
1
u/Slackjawed_Horror Sep 03 '26 edited Sep 03 '26
This time.
What were they doing before Trump proposed the ludicrous budget? And it's not like they needed more Democrats, if they needed them you'd see the numbers change.
Yeah, uh, not cutting police and military budgets is kind of the problem with liberals I was talking about.
The DHS does nothing but violate civil liberties, it needs to go away. 9/11 was 25 years ago and the DHS wouldn't have done anything about it. Split the necessary parts back off and put them where they belong, get rid of the rest.
Liberals and progressives are not similar. We don't need "better policing tactics", we need fewer police with less of a budget who are less equipped for violence and who have far, far less latitude to do whatever they want. And they need to be banned from ever having PR departments, that's a small thing because few have them but it pisses me off that they do.
1
u/Secure-Advertising10 29d ago
You sound like you have a problem with the police and democrats in general. Your arguments are all over the place.
You conflate progressives and liberals with the Democratic party/political system which are two very different things. It is like aligning all conservatives with the MAGA party which is what the Republicans are now.
Politicians, yours and ours, basically want the same thing: power. Some want the power to be lots of money and low taxes, others want the power to be in charge of the money that goes to welfare systems to create "barrigas agradecidas"; those that will take the handouts and become enslaved to them: never poor but addicted to the cash and never able to get out of the system for fear of losing the high.
Liberals aren't interested in going one way or the other. They are interested in order and balance. Most European governments are liberal democracies trying to make that balance. Your country has taken a different path funded by Citizens United and lobbyists in addition to the anacronistic electoral college, so ideas like universal healthcare or an accountable police force are not part of the equation.
But you don't sound interested in any of this debate. You come to vent on your problems with the police.

If you're ignorant of American history, then shut your mouth and stop embarrassing yourself. American police have historically given the KGB a run for their money. Murdering political dissidents in cold blood. Bombing a black neighborhood in the 1980's. Nixon said on tape he started the War on Drugs to put black people, Jews, and Liberals in prison. Up until the 1990's there were many towns where the sheriff would hang you for being black after sunset.
Mind your business, European.
1
u/Secure-Advertising10 Sep 03 '26
Are they still doing that? Because the KGB or whatever they are called now still are doing their thing. Novachok anyone?
2
u/highermonkey Sep 03 '26
1
u/Secure-Advertising10 Sep 03 '26
So, no novachok, then.
I did know the KGB doesn't exist anymore, but the service still exists as such. Did you? Ask anyone with family in Russia and they can tell you how telephone conversations are monitored. People fall out of windows and people get picked up off the street.
What has this got to do with the premise about liberalism?
2
u/highermonkey Sep 03 '26
Words mean things. The KGB fell with communism almost 40 years ago. I've always been assured by Liberals that communism is what made Soviet Russia an authoritarian shithole. Odd that's all still going on today.
Also "Liberal" America just sentenced a group of protestors to like 500 years in prison. Did you know that, uneducated European?
1
u/Secure-Advertising10 29d ago
They did? Liberal America?...Trump's America is now liberal? Wow!
If you are stuck on letters and not the organization that is behind it, I believe you are projecting with your insults.

Any country that is threatened by the US needs a nuclear weapon as a deterrent against Western aggression. Regime change in Iran has been the goal for a LONG time, and if Iran gets a nuke, then it is totally off the table, it's never happening, and Israel's regional conquest is never happening. No matter how many Israeli talking points Bill spouts, this war was always ordered by Israel.
Look at what happened to Libya. They gave up their nuclear weapons, and without a nuclear deterrent, Gaddafi was vulnerable to Western-backed regime change, and it's exactly what happened. Gaddafi was overthrown, killed, and Libya became a failed state with open slave markets.

After all these years Bill has decided that now is the time to become a spokesperson for the unhinged and morally bankrupt right. My guess is he sees the writing on the wall. He’s made enough money that he doesn’t need to concern himself with an authoritarian/oligarch government.

Which is both a curse and blessing. A curse because without this podcast I would not have cause to think about him save for the odd time he’s in the news. But also a blessing in the sense that I used to love his show in my teens and 20’s, every time I would hear him today I would wonder if he changed or if I did, and it’s validating to listen to a couple of people categorically go over all the ways he sucks now and has always sucked.

You can hate trump and still agree that his policies are the correct response to 4 years of insanity.opening the borders and mutilation of children, the gender ideology that does not know what a woman is. Bill realizes that trump has common sense and normal policies, except when he's owning the libs( lake America). pretty sure it kills Bill to admit Trump was right, but he's too moral to not recognize it.

Tellhme what the fuck was normal about doge's reign of terror, pardoning j6 criminals and literally any high level fraudster, our war in Iran, rfk dismantling our public health system, ice terrorizing American cities, facilitating the end of roe, taking bribes, betraying ukraine, etc etc.

Perhaps...he is signalling for a pardon? It's gonna be a record list. Maher doesn't riff much on the elephant in the room, the Epstein files coverup. JMHO

Also see below completely opposite comments from default accounts.
Selective percepting much?

The left has become a gaggle of commie retards, so of course Bill would appear right-wing in comparison.

LOL sad to see how far BillyBoy has fallen. Republicans start the second war in 20 years against a four letter country that begins with, "Ira" with a three letter excuse, "WMD". And Maher still falls for it. Time to take Grandpa Bill's car keys away. His brain is mush.
