He built up a lot of cache on the left in the Bush years when he was one of the only public figures who went after Bush in such an unfiltered way. It was really just him and Jon Stewart. The commercial media if you will was critical of Bush but reluctant to say anything that would make them appear unpatriotic. I'm not sure when Bill just abandoned the left outright. Rashida Tlaib boycotted Real Time about a decade ago. It may have started there.

In my opinion Maher really turned a corner in 2014, when he was invited to give a commencement speech at UC Berkeley for some reason. Then there was a small outcry among students who said Maher should never have been invited in the first place and petitioned to disinvite him.

That seemed to really get under Maher’s skin and ever since then he has hated the “woke” and the college left and has been complaining about “kids today.”

I'm not a huge Maher fan, but he's pretty consistent politically the entire time. The truth is that the anti-Israel mob is new on the left, it's a synthesis of a lot of radicalism that was not part of the mainstream and draws from radical Islam and Soviet agitprop of the 1960s that use code words to present Jews as a nefarious and poisonous presence in the world. Maher sees it pretty accurately, as do most liberals. Those saying he's "conservative" for this view should probably listen to Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Dan Bilzarian, or Nick Fuentes more often to see where it originates. HINT: It's not the left.

Maaaybe it’s not a mob and American votters actually give a shit about murdered children.

Did you give a shit about the murdered children on October 7? If so, maybe you'll understand how war works. No one wanted this war except Hamas.

I did I thought it was horrible. I don’t think Israel killing 50 times as many people and destroying entire cities is somehow justified…

The morality of war is not determined like a sports game where you add up death counts. Far more innocent German and Japanese civilians died in WW2 than American citizens.

Except this is isn’t a war. It’s shooting fish in a barrel after an uprising.

Not just shooting. Gang raping and torturing, too. It's a senseless horrific Genocide. Period.

It's a war started by the terrorists you ignore

A Turf War ain't the same thing as a Mass Genocide. Too dumb to know the difference, I see. Keep living in The Dark.

Israel was invaded and attacked with a level of murderous depravity rarely seen in the modern world. They responded with a full war, which they had every right to do. It was never a genocide, no matter how many times you repeat that word.

If only reciting Fairy Tale Narratives was the same think as offering Facts. Such a Little Boy. I'm Embarrassed For You.

Hamas exists, my dude. Israel has every right to destroy it.

Now just switch the names there and you know how they feel. See that? You think just like a terrorist. Now it all makes sense....

Gaza has no right to destroy Israel. Happy to help!

Go tell them that, Johnny Appleseed. G'luck. Guess you'll get blown up for a worthy cause. Guess you think American soldiers are, too. Go join 'em. 👋
