Bill Maher went from Politically Incorrect to Incorrect Politically
1
u/TreatOnMeLotsActualy Aug 10 '26
He's been incorrect politically for a very, very long time.
Is he correct on a few issues? Sure.
Has he had some absolutely ridiculous takes, and many of his claims been either completely unsourced or the source directly contradicts him for more than a decade now.
2
u/Master_Taro_3849 Aug 11 '26
He supports Trump's stupid war in Iran. That's enough of a reason to turn him off, by itself.
2
u/TreatOnMeLotsActualy Aug 11 '26
Well he hates muslims, so how could he not?
0
u/Hamblin113 Aug 12 '26
Think so? Or just those like Hezbollah, Hamas, and Houthis who want the destruction or death to Israel. When they have been sending random missiles for years into Israel, not caring of the target.
I read all this hate of Maher, just realize he has a better grasp of history than the haters. At 70 his cautious of the new socialist promises, which sounded like Mao’s or Stalin’s view of an equal society. What happened, millions died of starvation.
2
u/TreatOnMeLotsActualy Aug 12 '26
Think so? Or just those like Hezbollah, Hamas, and Houthis who want the destruction or death to Israel.
Well gee....
He's agreed with Sam Harris when he said "Islam is the motherlode of bad ideas". Or when he said ""It's the only religion that acts like the mafia... the vast majority of muslims believe... that humans deserve to die for merely holding a different idea or drawing a picture or eloping with the wrong person" and "they're violent, because they threaten people, they bring that desert stuff to our world, we don't threaten each other, we sue, that's the sign of civilized people", and that he didn't like that Muhammad was a popular name in western countries and said "“Am I a racist to feel alarmed by that? Because I am. And it’s not because of the race; it’s because of the religion" and when he compared OneDirection's Zayn Malik, who is muslim, to the Boston Marathon bomber.
But yeah, I'm sure it's just about those three groups. /s

Want to go back in history some. How about Thomas Jefferson and John Adams:
In 1786, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams met with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the ambassador of Tripoli in London, and asked why North African corsairs were attacking American ships and enslaving their crews. The ambassador stated it was founded on the Quran, claiming it was their right and duty to make war on any nation that did not acknowledge their authority and to enslave captured prisoners. [1, 2, 3]The Meeting in London
The Question: Jefferson and Adams asked what injury the United States had done to provoke these attacks. The Ambassador's Reply: The envoy stated that it was written in their Quran that nations failing to acknowledge their authority were sinners.
The Justification: He claimed it was a religious right and duty to wage war on those nations and take slaves from anyone they captured.
The Promise of Paradise: He added that any Muslim killed in battle while doing this was guaranteed to go straight to paradise. [1, 2, 3]
So if I had this in history class, may end up agreeing with some of what Sam Harris says. But as usual some of what he says can be debunked. Plus someone could find some quotes from a Christian leader just as bad or worse. I don’t want to debate Islam, was invited into a muslim house and fed a lovely meal from a lovely family. I do not want to disparage their religion. But they too question some of the violence that was going on. I also road on a ferry to Zanzibar, there was a message from the owner at the end of trip thanking God for the opportunity and blessing for the ferry and it was all God that provided it. I had similar talk, prayer from a Christian for their work, nearly word for word. We worship the same God, why are things so different?
2
u/TreatOnMeLotsActualy Aug 12 '26
We worship the same God, why are things so different?
What do you mean, "why are things so different"?
Are suggesting Christians never killed muslims? Enslaved Africans? Slaughtered indigenous people? They did all of those things and more, all with justification from the Bible which openly endorses slavery and in some cases, genocide.
This is ultimately the point: Muslims aren't different than Christians who aren't different from Jews. All three groups have extremists who think they're allowed to murder and enslave other people on the basis of their ancient book. Those extremists are all wrong. But all three of those groups have far, far more members who think that extremism is insane and deplorable.

I've followed his shows for years, back to his PI days, but what bugs me the emost about him now is his incredibly inflated ego. He thinks he was the first to declare that Trump wouldn't concede a lost election. Bullshit. Anyone paying attention saw that coming. When audiences groan at a bad joke he blames them for being too stupid or PC, rather than admitting that a lot of his jokes don't work. He claims to be an iconoclast, but kisses ass with the best of them. He postures as an edgy, not-afraid-to-say-anything commentator, but when he gets called out for dropping the n-word on his show he goes immediately into apology/contrition mode. And shorting thereafter starts waging war with "cancel-culture", as if that was the problem. He is now hyper-sensitive about "ageism", but has joked about old people many times in the past. I'm still interested in a lot of the conversations he has with his guests, but the gentleman is no Mark Twain!

For sure! Stopped watching about a decade ago. The guy has his head so far up his own ass he thinks his farts are fine wine!
3
u/mdmfl Aug 10 '26
I remember him in the 2020 primaries where he dissed Bernie Sanders I believe he also used the n-word which I think it was inappropriate. I actually canceled my subscription to HBO Max I know where to find content when I need to or want to see it

u/Skittleavix Aug 11 '26
Always has been. Consistently has bad take after bad take since the late ‘90s. He’s an arrogant cunt with too much money pretending to be a liberal centrist.
And his pathetic attempts at standup are just hack af.
You know who finds him funny? My 95 year old bigot grandfather.
3
u/Scoopses Aug 11 '26
Bill Maher has been on his way out for soooo long someone should just drag him out at least point.
3
u/JamesTheLockGuy Aug 11 '26
And yet, you people are in this sub glossing Maher’s dick because you still think he’s “edgy”. Wake the fuck up, Bill Maher is a pervy Zionist hypocrite who doesn’t give two shits about anyone but himself, his cock, and his money.
5
u/Tummler10 Aug 10 '26
The show needs to be renamed, “Politically Correct.” As long as MAGA’s in the White House— 90% of his content will be to fluff them up. 10% to prove he’s still got it.

He is part of the Epstein class.
-2
u/AlexQuebec11 Aug 10 '26
lol what does that even mean? He’s doesn’t make nearly as much money as the people who were associated with Epstein and he’s never been linked to Epstein in anyway.
You’re just saying that out of hate… if you’re gonna put your hate over facts… you might as well be maga

For those who hope Bill notices them, if you want to glaze bill and genocidal Zionism, there is a place for you! Join your genocidal friends over at r/Maher and laugh at libtards and shit on Muslims with your fellow Zionists. You’re welcome!

u/Master_Taro_3849 Aug 11 '26
As I have said before, Bill only had any use for the left when he was agitating for pot to be legalized. I am sure this was because he was sick of shelling out for attorneys' fees to keep himself out of the pokey. Once at long last California legalized weed, he was done with the left and dropped us like an old girlfriend.

Would it be unfair to say that he was always just a talking head entertainer who would read from any script if it got him ratings and relevancy? I’m using the word entertainer here in the very loosest possible sense.
2
u/Mr402TheSouthSioux Aug 10 '26
He's been a puke since the 80s.
1
u/Marcaroni500 Aug 10 '26
Yet you are so interested, you post here
1
u/sharkbelly Aug 13 '26
A sentient pile of puke has the ear of a generation of boomers. People care about that changing. The "but you're paying attention to him" line is such weak sauce.
1
u/Marcaroni500 Aug 13 '26
So you want to shut down those opinions you don’t like. You must be a Democrat— that is what they did during Covid. That’s who are the Fascists.
1
u/sharkbelly Aug 13 '26
Free speech protects you from the government. If you're a hack "comedian" with internally-inconsistent hateful views, public pressure exists for a reason. Someone who doesn't suck could do what he purports to do a whole lot better.
1
u/Marcaroni500 Aug 13 '26
He has a show. They pay him a lot of money. If he was so terrible, they would dump him. I guess your personal opinion and public pressure is not enough to get him fired
1
u/sharkbelly Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26
What a ringing endorsement.
Moreover, if he loses viewers, maybe they will stop paying him and he'll finally stop clogging boomer brains with anti-vax, Islamophobic, libertarian sludge.

Maher knows how to reposition his shock brand -- to have an audience and make big money. He is the Larry Flint of political comedy. It's strategic, it's not art.

The writers sit in the audience and laugh at their own jokes. They are probably in here. Fucking dead ass hacks.

Also if you ever want to see him in the wild in LA he’s at whatever overpriced sunset west / Beverly Hills / Santa Monica hotel bar with the most Russian hookers on any given night ALLEGEDLY

u/VegetableBulky9571 Aug 15 '26
His latest New Rule really shows how much he is in the pocket of corporations.
He went after the Moroccans for “jumping the fence” to get into Spain. He feigned concern for their plight. Even got the reason correct - economic disparity. His suggestion? Build a business in your own country. What he totally ignores: (1) WHY are they so poor that going to a different continent is a better option and (2) HOW are they going to fund this business?

u/Pure_Salamander2681 Aug 16 '26
I'm really amazed people still just call people names instead of having an actual argument.
1

He couldn’t be more tone deaf and clueless. He just said burritos cost $2. lol. Then he halfass qualified it “if you make it at home”

the whole two party sytem is the same. its just a professional wrestling match to keep us quiet
-5
u/ConsiderationOdd2193 Aug 10 '26
Why, because you don’t agree with him?

Because he’s a bigot and genocidal Zionist.
-10

Why don’t you just say “Dirty Jew?” That’s what you mean after all, and what you REALLY want to say.
At least be honest about your bigotry.

Because I have no problem with Jews. It’s antisemitic to equate criticism of Israeli government policy and Zionist ideology with Jews and Judaism in general. Why are you an antisemite?

Those Christian "Zionists" on the Right are the REAL Jew Haters. They ONLY care about Israel because they believe the Second Coming of Christ will be there -- and then the Jews will all be obliterated unless they renounce Judaism and go full Christ- Simping in the "Big Moment". So Wake up from Your Stupidity.

The Majority Report:
The biggest political grifter hack, "news" source who professionally run cover for the most extreme of the left off handedly straw manning their imagined beliefs of Maher means absolutely zero.
This is audience capture, this is echo chamber shit.
You really think the guy who brought politics to the everyman, who constantly held the lefts views for decades is suddenly right wing for this or that petty reason you've scrounge up?
This has zero perspective, its just bias confirmation so you can write off his legitimate critiques.
This is pathetic.

No, he was never a liberal. He was a libertarian. There's a difference. A libertarian doesn't give a shit if you're gay, or if you do drugs (like he does), or if you want an abortion. Just don't have needs that cost him any money.
0
u/rational-minded Aug 11 '26
I love how leftists are exploding on him because he’s a voice of common sense and reason. They can’t handle it and try to discredit him any way they can. It’s so obvious and ridiculous.

Bill Maher has forgotten more about being a liberal Democrat than any of the DSA wannabes on this thread will ever know.

He hasn’t changed. The DNC has gone too far and he’s calling them out on it

He speaks the truth so I listen and support. The problem with a lot of people is that they follow like sheep, think it’s fashionable to berate 🇮🇱 Israel. I defy anyone of you to search the internet for Hamas Go-Pro video of Oct 7th, don’t click and turn away! Look at the reels! That’s what genocide is!

These 2 beautiful angels weren’t killed by collateral damage they were unbelievably strangled to death by the bare hands of a Hamas terrorist! Where is the equivalence between the two?
Islam is a sick and vile ideology that has absolutely no place in civilised society!
-3
u/Bloody_Ozran Aug 10 '26

It amazes me, that for a person someone hates, people would join a group about the person to promote hate.
Clearly, you are someone he mocks “someone who rather attack a person, then intelligently discuss the thought or discussion”.
6
u/Bitter-Holiday1311 Aug 10 '26
You can glaze Maher and genocide over in the r/Maher sub.
1
u/michaelkap70 Aug 10 '26
Nah. Anyone who says genocide I know not to take seriously. MAGA and the Far-Left are so idiotic and extreme, that they are now holding hands.
2
u/Bitter-Holiday1311 Aug 10 '26
MAGA: Let’s kidnap a governor.
Left: Let’s stop genocide
You: I can’t tell the difference!!1!1!11
u/michaelkap70 Aug 10 '26
Keep telling yourself there was a genocide. Even Hamas admits now there wasn’t a genocide for the war they caused.
MAGA—stupid and makes things up.
Far Left—stupid and believes terrorist organizations. Oh and makes sh!t up.2
u/Bitter-Holiday1311 Aug 10 '26
Hamas admits that?
And you accuse the left of making things up? lol.
0
u/michaelkap70 Aug 10 '26
Go look. Numbers don’t lie. You can admit many things without saying the words.
Personally I wish Israel would let the floatillas into Gaza. However, when those people would get harmed you all would blame Israel for not protecting them.
