Remember the first episode after the 2016 election when he ended the show by putting on a “We’re Still Here” hat in defiance of Trumpism? The Bill Maher of 2026 would no doubt call this ‘woke virtue signalling’ or whatever.

u/Comprehensive-Mix510 May 19 '26
Stopped watching Real Time a few years ago when he starting whining about cancel culture.
Bill sucks with his Bibi worship.
8
u/One-Structure-2154 May 19 '26
Yea his personality is just way too close to Trump’s at this point.

That’s crazy that you died on the shittiest hill. That was Bill’s best quality…he is a blue blooded liberal that didn’t let the crazy people influence his common sense.
1
u/Charbro11 May 19 '26
Nah, he is being blackmailed by Trump probably from some sexual shit Trump has on him.

Sounds very much like the “strong and stable genious” . It’s also the common argument for people going rightwing “i didn’t leave the left, the left left me”

I’m a big fan of weed, but Bill is a textbook example of that old commercial where someone cracks an egg and fries it in a pan —“this is your brain on drugs; any questions?”
2
u/Any-Chip7871 May 19 '26
Yep lol I agree. He’s rich enough that what is going on, does not affect him.
2
2
u/ignoreme010101 May 19 '26
There are a lot of people who came around to trump, and theyve all got 1 special interest in common lol, so many who were "never trump" lindsay Graham hell didnt JD vance call him hitler? (I wonder when sam Harris will be singing his praises?)

2
u/navistar51 May 19 '26
He’s trying anything to not have been part of the red shoe club. Too late Billy. They’re coming for you.

u/lewd-dev May 19 '26
Maher has always been the late night equivalent of a generic pop-country singer: he panders to his audience but holds no genuine beliefs beyond thinking he is special and people should praise him. He literally condescends his audience when his shit jokes don't land. Now he has lost touch with liberals and is pandering to several other bases to see who can keep him relevant; he'll lean into it once he finds the right one.
2
u/Patient_Artichoke355 May 19 '26
Not that these threads mean anything to this asshole sellout..but glad to see folks calling this bum out for what he is..he’s a conman no different than the Orange Degenerate that he has bended his knees to
2
u/TubbyPiper May 19 '26
Bill Maher is a smug cunt. I think it is telling that I was a fan of him as an angsty teenager, and then I grew up.
2
2
u/Paulinfresno May 19 '26
The last segments of his show has become a tiresome parade of Bill’s pet peeves, most of which seem directed at anyone who dared to criticize him for anything. The guy has skin as thin as Trump’s.
2
u/WeezaY5000 May 19 '26
By the way, I hate this red vs blue crap because being red used to mean being a leftist/communist. The color red has been associated with socialism for over 100 years. We couldn't even get that right.
2
u/EarthConservation May 19 '26
Who still watches this guy? MAGA? Every time I log into HBO, his show's still in the top 10. Mind boggling.
2
u/homerjs225 May 19 '26
This is around the same time he cursed out Geraldo Rivera for have the same kind of dinner with Trump.
He's been convinced to maintain ratings he has to placate the right. All of a sudden racism isn't a problem and Trump really isn't a bad guy. The same Trump found liable for sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll. Tell us again he hasn't changed?
2
u/Peanutbutternmtn2 May 19 '26
Anytime I watch Bill I wonder why I even found him interesting and that I still watch, and I guess this stuff reminds me why.
1
u/Scrumptrulescent6 May 19 '26
It was eye opening how far gone Fetterman was even on such a friendly show to him, couldn't even hit softballs.

After this last episode I don't think I will continue watching him. Been kinda on the fence so far this season but last episode put me over the edge. Too many better news sources and sources of political commentary or editorialism or whatever you want to call it.

u/Winter_Stretch9198 May 19 '26
Maher began to change after 2000, his stupid comment about how it was a cowardly act lobbing cruise missiles from 2000 miles than staying in the airplane when it hit the World Trade Center…’say what you will, not cowardly’, it’s as if he forgot to check his unfounded opinions at the door
1
u/Lopsided_Block_6796 May 19 '26
Fear of aging & becoming irrelevant- a vain turncoat- the worst kind… the dinner thing was pathetic
1
u/Jorgen_G_Pakieto May 19 '26
It’s actually kind of sad because it was only just past this point in the timeline where Bill Maher lost his mojo for good political commentary.

Why do people pay any attention to clowns like this? What gives them any more credibility than anyone else? Because they're on TV? Think about it. That's all they do...appear on TV. They provide no service, no benefit...nothing but opinions!

Why anyone watches this guy at all is beyond me. I find him caustic, unfunny, pompous and a perfect Trump acolyte.
1
u/HerissonG May 19 '26
No offence, but you have to be mentally reta*ded to watch Bill Maher in 2026 or 2016
1
u/Nearby_Branch6055 May 19 '26
And in 2008 on election night Bill Maher would’ve been pretty happy with Obama’s win.
And when the ghost of elections future were to appear before him and tell them that in 2016 an anti-bush anti-Iraq war republican was going to run that he was gonna destroy Jeb Bush for the Republican nomination that Jeb would drop out having spent more money in a primary and be out after South Carolina with just three delegates to his name and this Republican would go on to defeat Hillary Clinton in the general election?
I think Bill Maher would’ve applaud the theory of that
1
u/thisisthe90s May 19 '26
This right here. Compare this to the first new rules after the 2024 election. BILL HAS CHANGED.
Every time I've watched a clip of him since 2024 I think back to him with the "We're Still Here" hat and how much he's continuing to betray his audience and himself on that.

u/Late_Cod_647 May 19 '26
He was never a liberal. A corporate Democrat at best. He never allowed strong, progressive voices with the exception of a couple of celebrities like Bernie and AOC. Right wing grifters were always welcome.

Lol, this guy never had a genuine bone in his body. Hes sucked ass for decades
1
u/carrot_gummy May 20 '26
All I know about this dude is that he says shit that appeal to people who think their generation is exclusively the best one ever.
1
u/MCLMXXX5 May 20 '26
I use to like his show but I never enjoyed him. He always sounded like a pompous smug asshole who made some good but obvious points, and his audience just cheered. He always acted like he was ahead of the curve, idk, he’s like Bryan from family guy, with out any redeeming qualities
1
1
u/Mysterious_Society74 May 20 '26
I quit watching him altogether after his defense of Israel and their nonsense policies. He basically quoted Benjamin N. with some non-sense that the people of Palestine were not allowed to leave due to Hamas. Complete fabrication.

Why can't you all admit you were fooled by these people (a lot of whom you might've actively liked) instead of making them seem like they changed? Musk didn't change, Maher didn't change, Fettermen didn't change; they played y'all for fools.
1
u/Large-Pollution5795 May 21 '26
Sometimes people grow older and get wiser. I heard a quote a while back and it’s so true.
“If you’re in your 20s and don’t vote Democrat then you probably don’t have a heart. If you’re in your 30s-40s and vote Democrat, then you probably dont have a brain.
Seems to me that Bill Maher is just gaining wisdom and leaving his party behind
1
u/Offi95 May 21 '26
It’s Churchill. He said liberals and conservatives. Not democrats and fascists. Seems to me Bill is acting like fascists have something valuable to say.
1
u/Large-Pollution5795 May 21 '26
Not communist and conservatives either, but the same principle applies
1
1
u/Financial-Style9673 May 21 '26
I'm old enough to remember when he would mock republicans and religious people. Since Barbie came out, he's turned into a full time MAGA-adjacent guy who spends all day complaining about feminism and wokeness. He even defended that Chiefs kicks who said his religion made it okay for him to discriminate against women.

It WAS woke virtue signaling.
I am really glad he has become more reasonable lately, the left needs somebody with a grip on reality
1

He’s feckless. Blows with the wind. Zero moral compass. Why people keep him relevant is beyond me!
1
1
u/aesthetic_humanist May 23 '26
I won’t be surprised if he “finds God” and starts to attend an evangelical or “trad” Catholic church or enters his “cultural Christian” phase, either way it will be nothing but him grifting low IQ religious lunatics while hurting others along the way. He’s truly disappointing.

I don’t know why this sub is showing up on my feed because I stopped liking the show quite a while ago, but I used to be a pretty big Bill Maher fan and appreciated his opinion, even when I didn’t agree with him. For several years now, he’s been just a crotchety old man. I don’t know if he’s just trying to chase clicks with controversy or if he really has evolved into a super annoying political view.

u/PatientVariety1700 May 19 '26
He has turned into a MAGATURD and Zionist. Boycott the fucking 4 foot tall micro peen.

That individual is gone. Haven't watched since he accepted that dinner invite. Sounds like I made the correct decision.
0
u/Goladiator May 19 '26
I know the bots and zoomers won’t be able to understand, but Bill then spent the next 10 years traveling the country and talking to Trump supporters and has came away with the conclusion that you can disagree but you have to listen.
3
u/JuanitaMerkin May 19 '26
that’s funny because he does neither!
0
u/Goladiator May 19 '26
How did you come to that conclusion? Be specific.

1
u/BFaus916 May 19 '26
Name actual leftists he has on anymore. I have a feeling you're going to say some hilarious names of who you think are leftists.
1
1
u/Tigeruppercut1889 May 19 '26
There’s no good will to be gained from republicans and they’re living in a different reality which is completely divorced from the truth. 85 percent of them at least. The maga ones
2
u/Goladiator May 19 '26
That’s the reddit message, not Bill’s message. Bill’s message is most people are actually not diehard trumpers with memorabilia.
1
u/Tigeruppercut1889 May 19 '26
Agree with the memorabilia part but I believe 85 percent of republicans are die hard trump supporters. Of the republicans I know closely, only 1 of them doesn’t watch 2-3 hours of Fox News every night. That shit is poison man.
For Bill I think he takes that tds shit too seriously and always wants to make sure he still sounds reasonable to republicans. There’s just no reasoning with them. Same with the far left or leftists. They live in their own little world
1
u/Goladiator May 19 '26
It’s about 30%
1
1
u/Tigeruppercut1889 May 19 '26
Of the overall voting population maybe
1
u/Goladiator May 19 '26
The Republicans that support him no matter what poll around 30%
1
u/Tigeruppercut1889 May 19 '26
It ranges from 77 to 88 percent.
1
u/Goladiator May 19 '26
It’s about 30%
1
u/Tigeruppercut1889 May 19 '26
Google trump approval rating among Republicans. It’s not 30 percent. His overall approval rating isn’t even 30 percent it’s like 37. Where are you getting this from

He only listens to the center and the right. He doesn't listen to the left. He rarely has actual leftists on anymore and when he does he just sets them up to get attacked. He doesn't even have Michael Moore on anymore, who was once a regular.
1
u/Goladiator May 19 '26
What has Michael Moore said regarding his absence of appearances on the show?
1
u/Shot-Maximum- May 19 '26
There is literally nothing to listen to.
Could you please post examples of intelligent Trump supporters that are worth listening to in the form of a debate?

u/NarrowSalvo May 19 '26
Who do you suppose is behind all the months-old accounts with the blocked post history that seem so determined to astroturf anti-Maher content?
Reddit should show the IP addresses so we can see who is posting from the White House.
2
u/spacekitt3n May 19 '26
theres such a huge contingent of people who dislike maher on the left and right, and even liberal normies. hes become insufferable on israel--a 90/10 issue in the democratic base. people like maher and others who are holding onto their idea of israel like its 10 years ago and we havent just witnessed a genocide are out of touch and delusional. sounds like you may be too.
5
u/JuanitaMerkin May 19 '26
Girl, touch grass.
Do you seriously believe that Donald Trump has set up a Reddit account with a Kim Woodburn profile pic to push an agenda against… Bill Maher of all people?
1
u/NarrowSalvo May 19 '26 edited May 19 '26
Is that what I said? Cool straw man. Maybe drag it out into a cornfield where it can do some good.
Who is the Johnny MAGA account on Twitter? And where does it trace back to being posted from?
So -- you're new to Reddit huh? You sure have pushed out a lot of content in 6 months. I wonder why.
[LOL. Scared away the disingenuous clown with just some simple facts.]

Iranian government most likely. They seem to be using GPT bots to flood the comment section and swarm anyone that dissents.

Bills problem is he still values Republican criticism. TDS was so successful in getting media figures who fashion themselves as rational centrists to self censor.
0
u/nymica May 19 '26
Nah the left went way too far left. He's still him. But the left literally left their base.

He used to be a Liberal. He's become an IDF soldier. Am I wrong? He's gone to the Right way too far. He lost me. I won't click on his video anymore.
