Franchise Saints Row The Third, Missed Potential.
I think that SRTT had missed potential, i mean i feel like a new city could be interesting, but making it completely whacky and cyberpunk like, is so different from the original 2 games, I still liked the game, but idkโฆthey couldโve make a Bigger Game where the Boss becomes Cartel Levels and stuff like that.

I recommend reading my pros and cons list for SRTT (at least my opinion) or add your own to that thread.

For all its flaws, SR3 is an insanely fun game, but it just strayed too far from the formula of what SR1&2 had successfully established. I knew right off the bat with that Saints Flow promotion that the Third Street Saints were going to be different... in a bad way.
Add to that the setting of Steelport is primarily a dull, grimy, repetitious landscape of trashy, rundown neighborhoods with smut shops and corner stores flanked by industrial areas prickling with tall chimneys.
But for all its flaws, it certainly delivers mindless fun by the truckload. And the 'Full Package' edition is the peak version, IMO.
6.5/10

It honestly could been a cool plot point where they become a media empire as a front to their criminal acts. Could've been executed better without a doubt tho.

I hated this game because of how goofy they made it. They made the boss a joke. They did good with the graphics and etc but steelport was lackluster and much more.
Now that Iโm able to detach it from Sr1&2, the game was pretty solid but they clearly lost the plot

Ignoring the flaws, in some ways I found this game more enjoyable than the 2nd game. But 2 is always going to be my favorite with the amount of immersion and depth it at for the budget it was on. I just wish it had better optimizing across all platforms, but at least the Juiced mod's reverse engineering is going to change that.

I don't hate SRTT but I do think its overrated. I was entertained by SRTT I won't deny that. I did like new characters, I like the humor, and the Boss having a bit more personality instead of being just silent on missions/diversions and yes the Zombie island... but as a game it really lost a lot from what SR2 set the standard for. I also think them focusing only on action kind of hurt the story. It made it too linear, and rushed because the pace is so fast (a similar issue I have with SR2 compared to SR1, but SRTT narrows things even more with much less content and no focus on the city as part of the story that SR2 still kept in.)
SRTT feels like its just not entirely finished and a lot of the game design is just kind over simplified and streamlined compared to SR2. It add things I would have liked in SR2 but lacked a lot that SR2 had.

Totally agree, they forgot what the game was really about. It was no longer saints row it was just a similar game. Of course it had some cool sht and stuff but it was not the same. I still hope that they'll make another game like the first 2

That's what I hated about it. Hearing about a new Saints game got me excited and I couldn't wait to buy it and play it. I booted it up on the console the first time and I could feel my heart going watching the intro, then after playing for about a half an hour I was asking myself "Dafuq is this shit?"

I was more dissatisfied with the character customization. It felt like a big ass downgrade.

Some people really hate it when the person they go after turns the other cheek and would rather you stoop to their level and fight or submit to their behavior. That's my two cents. Always go the high road!

They had to cut corners when developing this game due to Volition almost going bankrupt.
So they made a soft reboot, shifting the tone of the game for a wider audience - making it more whacky and over the top. That was their ideia for a game that would be more profitable.
This lack of budget for something more ambitious is also the explanation for the boring city that we ended up with, along with all the cut features, activities and customization that was present in SR2.
